Larry, just wanted to say thanks- I bought the exact same set up and you have helped immensely. Much appreciated. Rock star!!

Thank you for making this! Super helpful. I find most common mistake is putting the a shorter set of bolts where a longer set of bolts needs to go, and then realizing once I need the shorter bolts for something else! Awesome tutorial.

Thanks mate and you’re welcome! Haha yes me too! I’ve done the same many times 😂😂😂 Seems to always happen when the bolts are in the bag. It’s amazing how much simpler it is to lay out the parts neatly first. But that ain’t livin! 😂😂🤙🏽🤙🏽

Hey Larry, thanks for the video super useful do you have any recommendation for the cleaning part of the foils screws and threads. You mentioned you do this 3 times a year or so. tips on that aspect would be super useful ! thanks again for all the awesome videos

Great video. It would be really helpful if you could provide the weight of each component as well as the whole set once assembled. This information is hard, if not impossible to find on the website. In particular, I am interested in finding out about the weight difference when going from a 16mm mast setup and plate to the 19mm. This also applies to the other wing-specific videos you posted. You could add the weight information in the video notes. Thank you

@@LarryFoiler Do you feel that the improvements with the 910, 1150 and 1010 compared the 1000 and the 900 make these older 1000 and 900 obsolete?
@LarryFoiler4 жыл бұрын
Laurent Martin I can only answer for the 900 vs 910 as I haven’t used the larger sizes, but I’m assuming the answer would be the same. The 900 definitely is not obsolete, it’s still faster than the 910 and has a little more glide. So still a sick wing for downwind or wing foil and going fast. The 910 is really better suited to wave riding compared to the 900. It turns so much tighter and being a little slower it won’t outrun the wave like the 900 can 💪🏽💪🏽

Hi Larry Foiler, today I received my Axis Set-Up. It came with two additional M8 30mm screws. I got the Carbon 760mm mast which comes with very short threads. The M8 70mm can't be used to tighten the Fuselage to the mast but the 35mm and 30mm yes work. Which one is the correct one? I noticed a bump on the end of the mast (where it goes into) the fuselage: rear wing, starboard, just over the letter "A" of the "Axis"-Print on the Fuselage. Did I manage to damage my $843 mast during the first set-up? 😞. I am not sure if the mast came with this imperfection or if the rear thread of the mast's end simply isn't drilled perfectly straight (but slightly towards starboard) .. and that the 35mm screw caused that damage?? If the screw goes perfectly straight down into the mast, shouldn't the bump be visible on both sides? And why only on the rear thread? Shouldn't the same thing have happened on the front thread as well? Sad, confused and a little annoyed. Hope Axis can help me out with that .. Greetings from Ecuador

Hi mate! Yes definitely don’t send the long screws into the mast, as overtightening a screw that is too long can definitely do some damage. I think I understand what you are saying, and I don’t think it would be enough damage to affect the usage in any way. Perhaps take some pics and shoot them to the guys at Axis for them to check out. 🤙😎
Thanks, getting my new setup soon with the 760, can't wait! Can you please clarify, how often do you reapply TefGel? When you first mention it, you say 2 or 3 times a year. Then at the end of the video you advise to disassemble everything every 2-3 weeks to flush with fresh water and reapply.
@LarryFoiler4 жыл бұрын
Awesome! You’ll love the 760! 🪓🔥 Yes I’m sorry that TefGel bit is a little confusing 😂🥴 It really depends how much you’re using your gear. The most important part is to rinse with fresh water and disassemble often, like every 2-3 weeks. If you notice that your TefGel is fading just reapply as needed. Realistically I’ll do my TefGel every 6 months but I’m also flushing and disassembling weekly 😀🤙🏽

How much lighter is a carbon setting? Axis site doesn't show weight.
@LarryFoiler3 жыл бұрын
When compared to the 16mm aluminium mast, the equivalent in carbon is about 17% lighter, slightly more so when you compare to the 19mm aluminium mast but I’ve not been able to measure that properly as I don’t have the 19mm mast

Really enjoying the vids, keep them up! Can you do a clip on the 16 vs 19 mm masts? I'm 70kg and only wingfoil should I be on the 16 or 19 for a 75mm mast?
@LarryFoiler4 жыл бұрын
Hi Derek! Cheers mate! 🤙🏽 I’m 64kg and on the 16mm mast for everything. I’ve recently started winging using the 910 and 860 front wings and 75cm 16mm mast with a 6’0 80L board and no issues at all. I think you’ll be fine with the 16mm. It’s a little lighter and faster than the 19mm and also a bit whippier for prone foilsurfing 💪🏽🤙🏽🔥
@ming00n4 жыл бұрын
Larry Foiler great to know, everyone here is on 19mm masts but they are 10-20 kg heavier than me. Faster lighter sounds perfect

anyone recommend a axis foil for beach starts? I want to be able to try that. Im 167lbs and about 5'5
@LarryFoiler4 жыл бұрын
I use the 102 for beach starts. It’s super easy because it has heaps of low end power. All of my beach start videos on here are with the 102 from Axis

Just a heads up for anyone following his example. Do not put your Teflon tape on the bolts backwards like he did.
@LarryFoiler Жыл бұрын
There’s a forwards and backwards for Teflon tape? 😂 And what are the risks associated with backwards Teflon tape? I’ve been doing it wrong for 5 years and I’m still alive 🤷🏼
@beleg1437 Жыл бұрын
@@LarryFoiler You want to be rotating the bolt the same way you tighten it as you wrap the tape around it. That way when you thread in the bolt the female threads are not trying to unwrap your tape. This rule is for plumbing /gas fitting situations but its a good one to follow any time you use Teflon tape.
