Yes , thanks for correcting me . complete hydrolysis product of IF7 will be HIO4 as oxidation state of Iodine is +7. IF7 + 3H2O ---> IO3F + 6HF IO3F + H2O ---> HIO4 + HF ----------------------------------- IF7 + 4 H2O ----> HIO4 + 7 HF

Sir after partial hydrolysis of IF7 we got IO3F of sp3 hybd. Then for complete hydrolysis we will get HIO4 as only 1 F will be replaced by OH

Please check the example of IF7, giving HIO3. Oxidation state is not +7 in HIO3. Thanks.

Sir the concept is really easy to understand but I have a doubt. The trick does not apply to hydrolysis of SbCl3 and BiCl3 ...Can you explain the reason behind it???

Due to metallic nature of Bi/Sb, their chlorides in +3 oxidation state undergo partial hydrolysis to yield oxy salts like BiOCl, SbOCl.

Sir but according to ncert oxy acids are those hich have atleast one doubble bonded oxygen and atleast one OH and H of OH is acidic here u said that BOH is an oxy acid and u also said that B is an electro positive element please clear...

Sir this technique is helpful but not working in some places. For eg XeF4 on hydrolysis gives XeO3 and Xe. Please guide us if there is some exception please give a list. So that we can use this technique fearlessly. Thanks
