For a new guy, i don`t see too many Hydro Systems in S.E Michigan, your series are very informative. Thank you for sharing, you are such a asset to the trade.

I've watched so many of your videos. You are a great teacher. I have learned so much from you. When I bought my house a year ago, I almost shit a chicken looking at the boiler and all the pipes. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to comprehend all the intricacies that make up the system but here I am... taking it all in and it's all thanks to you. I now feel well versed and well prepared for whatever issues may arise. Thank you so much, Steven.

GOOD JOB STEVE, THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME AND SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE. DOWN SOUTH WE DON'T HAVE ALOT OF BOILERS AND RADS, BUT SOME OF THE OLDER HOMES STILL DO. I THINK ITS EXCELLANT HEAT, OF COURSE WE HAVE TO HAVE OUR A/C

Thank you Steve for all the information in these videos! I am electrician by trade but find interest in HVAC... I have learned now WHY my former employer has had so many problems with the copper fin baseboard in his house since he had the boiler replaced ( No purge station, city water feed a disaster). Also trying to soak up some tidbits of info as a buddy is putting in some hydronic heat into a garage addition to his house.

+REWYRED its pretty basic once you know whats going on in system

Good info Steve 👍🏻 Took me a while to figure out my fill valve. It’s an Amtrol Fill-Trol that uses the pressure in the expansion tank to set the pressure of the integrated fill valve. Cheaper to install, but gonna be more expensive to fix when either the tank or valve fails.

Here’s a comment for ya. More more more. I’m young at piping registered for plumbing. I want gas n then challenge sprinkler as I’m working it right now as my first year in the trade. I could only google fishing so much n said hay I’ll try hydronics n watching this helps. Please continue. Thanks again

Great stuff...New sub and learned a lot. I bought a new house with a hydronic system and wasn't familiar with the setup. The house was built in 71 so although not ancient I've previously just had forced air. My system has been well maintained but I still like to know basic info so if something goes wrong I can at least have a clue as to what's happening and what I might be able to do myself.

Great job on the videos. You might have wanted to mention that on the bottom of a lot of pressure reducing valves there is a removable screen that when needed you can isolate the fill valve and remove the brass plug drop out the screen and clean the debris off that is caught before it plugs up the fill valve.

Thank you Steve for doing this series. I am going to need to put a heating system in this house and need to get a idea of what system to put in. I think I want hot water baseboard. Originally I wanted to put in hot water floor heat but the house has been added onto and the old part of the house has a lot of blocks in the joist bays and I would have to jump those blocks with the hose and that would really make it hard I think. Thanks for this series.

Hi Steve. Great videos. Very informative. You explain hydronic heating so it is easy to understand. Thanks for all the great information. I do have a question in regards to the feed line. I noticed that the Watts 9D backflow preventer installation instructions show the use of test cocks for field testing. Are the test cocks necessary on a residential boiler feed line?

Why can't you use a purge station on cast iron radiators Steve? Thanks for answering my questions. Can't wait for the next lesson
@stevenlavimoniere10 жыл бұрын
cast iron radiators need to be bleed at the radiator to much for a purge station to handle its just the way it is .. on copper baseboard fine purge stations are great,,, but cast iron base board no way ..coin vents are needed
@tomplumb7410 жыл бұрын
steven lavimoniere I've been using two ball values on the 1/2 supply & return, one with a waste and purge the rad from the basement it's a big help! when customers have STUFF all over so you can't get to the radiators and the breeders all want to leak. Try it sometime I think you'll like it tiny purge station.

Steve, if you have to increase pressure on prv, does the pressure in the expansion tank have to be increased too?
@stevenlavimoniere10 жыл бұрын
eyemforit only time i would increase pressure would be for a 3 story house .you might be better of just putting in a new one if its not feeding they get full of muck after awhile and know leave the pressure alone it should be ok the feeder is set for 12 to 15 lbs i would never go above 20 psi because the relief is set to 30 psi..sometimes you just need to run a different cerculator 009 for high head or 0015 are nice 3 speed

Why is it that with cast iron baseboards and radiators you can't purge/bleed the system at the boiler? I tried, but then eventually had to bleed out all the radiators and baseboards. By the way its a Burnham base ray system. Radiators in the bedrooms and kitchen, iron baseboards in the living room.

The lasr two hydronic schools they always want the circulator on the supply side. I aske then why do the pumps come on the return wnen you get a new boiler, The answer was that was only for shipping purpose
@raganoheatingacinc.464310 жыл бұрын
thanks thats what I thought too.
@stevenlavimoniere10 жыл бұрын
i have herd the circulator on the supply is better but i have experienced 99.99% of all circulators on the returns for over 30 years and hydronic is what i do a lot so some school teacher that could not make it in the trade well you know what i mean time tested stuff is what i look for not some blowhard that could not make it in the trade tells me ;i am a return guy why not its been working for over 30 years never a problem .......thats what i look at

Ragano michael i will be bring more i hope you learn some stuff hydronic is what i do best .. 30 years now so i have seen a lot of stuff
@tomplumb7410 жыл бұрын
Ragano michael the reason for putting pumps on the supply, and pumping towards the expansion tank is they say it will not cause any pressure chance look up Dan Houlihan he had books and classes all over. I have a system for piping my peerless boilers ,and I put all my pumps on return and never had any problems but it can cause a pressure increase so I'm told?
