I love these videos. Very informative. I know its been years since this was posted but I had a couple of questions for you. 1. You recommend correcting pH of the B stock. Is that necessary? Would the end result be different if the end solution was corrected instead? 2. How do we handle topping off a reservoir? Do we just add some stock in the same order?

A Hort Americas buyer here!!! Nice results, really. Hello, I have a nft and aeroponic system for lettuce , my question is: I have purchased a nutrient doser so I just program in it the desired EC I wanna keep in the reservoir and the dosser automatically adjust it from a stock solution when the EC in the reservoir drops down but, you are saying that, calcium nitrate must be separated out into the Part A stock solution and the monopotassium phosphate and magnesium sulphate into the Part B stock solution, something that I obviously do when I manually add the nutrients on my system, but I was pretty sure before purchasing the doser, that once the nutrients have been totally dissolved on the water separately we didn't have any danger of they making any reaction each other... But I now know that if the concentration, even when they are totally dissolved but in a same solution is high enough they will react, that once these stock solutions are diluted with water these reactions don’t occur so long as pH is also within the correct range. It’s only in the concentrated stock solutions where precipitation is an issue. As you must think it has been a enough inversion to me to buy a doser that just regulates the EC and I was hopping that if my reservoir its just 120 litters I can use a stock for nutrient upregulation that even having all the nutrients in that stock enough concentrated for make its function not so much as making any precipitation inside, so first, and if you can tell me, I would like to know in what concentration level it starts to be a problem for unwanted reactions when all the nutrients are dissolved in the same solution and what is your advice for me using my new device in this way, I hope my English been clear enough for this question been fully understood and I really hope you could answer my question, I really need this help, thank you!!!

Great video! I noticed when you were making the stock solution you had 4 gallons of water, then you added about a kilo of calcium nitrate. Doesn't that affect the amount of solution or dilute the solution? it would seem you can end up with 4.3 gallons after adding that. Also, when you mix the stock solution, how long are they good for (if kept in an air tight jar and in a dark place)? Thanks!

Great tips for the beginners,, thanks a lot. but how many ml of a/b per liter of water. Ty.

Excellent tutorial on mixing raw components in dry powder form for making customized nutrients mix. I found it very useful in learning how to mix my own for use in small scale hydroponics. No more buying premixed liquid nutrients and paying for shipment of what is over 80% water by weight. One question if you don't mind: does your Base fertilizer (9-7-37) also provide micro nutrients (trace elements) that are essential and needed in the final mix. Regardless, can you recommend a product that specifically provides these micronutrients only without altering the N-P-K- Cal/Mag mix of the final solution. Thank you for posting these videos.

I am finding these very informative. I have a question though... how do you change the pH if it is higher or lower than 5.5 as you recommended?
@NordeggSonya8 жыл бұрын
you can add a few drops of lemon juice or vinegar to make it more acidic or you can add a few sprinkles of baking soda to make it more alkaline.

Potassium hydroxide for PH up. Phosphoric acid for PH down. Sulfuric acid can also be used

Dont add 1432g of calcium nitrate to 4 gallons of water and expect to get 4 gallons of stock solution ;) Use less than 4 gallons of (distilled or reverse osmosis) water, ensure the 1432g of calcium nitrate is fully dissolved and then top up to 4 gallons with distilled or reverse osmosis water. The same applies for making the B stock..

First, good tuition . But when does 4gl+4gl×100= 400gl? Got me confused.
@rarnold10115 жыл бұрын
He said that one gallon of each mixed with 98 gallons of water makes one hundred gallons usable solution for lettuce.

if we blend solution a and b before we use it. why we separate A and B? I still didn't understand well.
@HortAmericas28 жыл бұрын
You don't want to store A and B together because it may fall out of suspension. This is also the most cost effective way to use/make your fertilizer solution.
