Hey everyone!
In this video, we show you how we do seeding, place into Propagation, transplant to Nursery troughs and into Finishing Troughs.
It really is quite simple!
We are only showing you what works best for us, but we are really happy with what we have going on!
We are going into our 7th year with this Hydronic Lettuce house, and have learned alot.
So we would love to share our knowledge with you all!
ENJOY!

Great video. Learned a lot. One thing I'd really love to know is how do you stop your roots going rotten as the plant gets bigger. I seems to have things running along ok while the plant is little but as soon as it gets bigger, the leaves go all limp, and the roots covered in algae. I'm doing deep water technique right now, but recall similar problems when I tried nutrient film technique.
@phloughergirl
@phloughergirl 2 жыл бұрын
Are you making sure no light gets into your container? That’s what causes the algae. Also, there needs to be some air space between the nutrient solution and the bottom of the plant. You want some roots in the solution, but they also need air. Perhaps this is what is causing your root rot and algae issue.

OK smart guyz, explain us this>>>>>> If I overwater my plant in a pot w dirt, the roots will drown & the plant will die. SO, How is it you guys can place a plants roots in pure liquid and those plants do not drown nor die? Confused in Capetown !
@Growwiththelaplantes
@Growwiththelaplantes 5 ай бұрын
Great question! With hydroponic the plants are aerated. Therefore, there is air moving around the roots of the plants, which stops the root rot. When you have a pot of soil with no drainage and you flood your plant, the water lays dormant and will rot your root. I hope this explains a bit.

A few questions: it looks like the growing channels/troughs don't have end-caps at the input end? How about the outflow end? So the support surface is slanted, being lower at the far end? And the nutrient solution is a constant flow 24/7? I'm trying to figure out how to do an NFT on a very small scale indoors. I created a tower last year but it leaked and getting enough light 360 degrees meant physically rotating it. It was a beast to operate. Hopefully this year's design works better.
