I have been on a rabbit trail researching that topic lately. Some believe produce could have as little as 15% of the nutrients left. Get your tower growing!

I've tended a garden for well over 20 years. I also have done composting for that same amount of time. I have a good amount of trees on my one acre of land and when I combine the dead leaves with the grass clippings and food scraps, I get compost in six weeks and never have to pay for it. Last January, I saw a video on chickens and as a DIYer, I decided to build a chicken coop and get 8 Black Australorp 3 day old chicks, and they are now giving us more eggs than we can use. I also started worm composting and this will be the first year I use them in my garden. I just started learning about hydroponic farming and I only wish I found out about it sooner! My only question is whether or not I'm going to DIY a solution or buy one. As I get older, I've learned that I can't do it all! Also, the price difference if I do it myself isn't that much. It might be $350-450 if I do it myself. I LOVE the idea of having fruits and vegetables year round, as opposed to just being able to grow when it's warm. Glad I found your channel.

Sounds like you have some amazing systems in place to feed your house!! The growing all winter has been a game changer for me and our food independence. We currently have cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and squash and we are not ever past our last frost date. Welcome! I was a single mom, now an empty nester, with property and I started growing vegetables about 3 years ago. Watching everyone's channels was killing me hearing about all the money needed to get started. So I just picked what I can do. I start my seeds indoors with a small greenhouse and lights. I don't do the raise beds, and I use rain barrels out of large plastic garbage receptacles. I don't have the drip lines as the cheap ones didn't work, so presently I hand water. PIA. I have really only bought mulch, which I can get from the woods, but since I work it is too time consuming to use a wood chipper. Last fall I did get horse manure for free which helps. Yes I like the idea of the towers, I will check it out. For now I am focused on perennials such as asparagus, berries, and fruit trees, herbs, etc.

That is great. I believe investing in perennials first is smart since they keep giving year after year.

My big wants is Squash and Tomatoes. Vine Borers make me want to set fire to the world. How does squash (many varieties), tomatoes do on the tower? Also Beans-I know you said peas are funky but how about beans?
@theaeroponictowerchannel
@theaeroponictowerchannel Ай бұрын
Beans grow amazing! I have a whole tower set up right now. With Vine Borers they lay eggs near the roots and I don't think the eggs can survive since our roots are wet in a mineral solution. I have never had a single vine borer on my towers so that is my theory for why. Tomatoes do amazing. I have a whole video on the varieties I like but I have tried over 50 varieties and they all do fine. I have a free see starting course here. stan.store/Theaeroponictowerchannel

Why do you buy the garden towers plz?

They are the only system that will grow everything except deep root vegetables, they are made of a material that doesn't leach or break down so they will last a lifetime and won't put toxins in the food, and they are the most cost effective way to grow food after they are paid off because I can start my own seeds and can have full atonomy. Here is my free ebook where I explain more specifics about the towers. stan.store/Theaeroponictowerchannel/p/food-freedom-awaits

I think it is quite sad conversation. I don't have a tower, but I use Click and Grows and Aerogarden. I'm getting another Click and Grow 27. My salad last night was so rich. Sometimes, you need to look at the benefits, such as mental health,. density rich food. Your salads are in your house and you have to go into the kitchen. You are able to fight off diseases. Having a healhty body is just worth the money,

I have a click and grow too! I was gifted the smart grow 27 from the company. I really like it. I do think the pods are expensive though. I grow food for .25-.50 a plant so $2.00 a plant has kept me from using it much. But I do like it......and anyway that works to get home grown food on the table is worth the cost! I'm glad you are enjoying amazing salads!

Absolutely worth it! ❤ I've gardened my whole life and worked for a large seed Co. for 20 yrs. I'm invested. I researched and bought a Tower Garden a few years ago to solve a few problems. 1) The weather changes caused a lot of blossom drop on my tomatoes. It wasn't cooling down enough at night anymore to set fruit. 2) My squash was cooking on the vine before it had a chance to mature. 3) Warmer winters resulted in increased pest problems....To name a few. We resolved these because now we can roll the tower garden to a cooler microclimate when needed. Absolutely costs less to set up than the raised beds. Quality of produce far superior to supermarket. Cleaner and less back-breaking. Significant reduction of pest issues. Effective all 12 months. Smartest gardening investment we've ever made!

I too have spent a lot of money on raised cedar gardens, soil, nutrients, manure, covers for the raised beds and water grid systems. ( Which, I will continue to use, for root vegetables) Recently, I have started my plant nursery with your suggestion (thank you) 🥰 and I am growing this season on the Tower Garden. Yes, it is an investment but the return will come back in pride and production. I am super excited to bring it inside this Winter 2024 to grow on!!! Thank you for your up lifting KZbin videos 😊

I just ordered the family tower gardens under you and cannot wait to finally be getting them! My husband asked whether I would still be doing our summer CSA after acquiring these units, along with the other hydroponics system I run. I probably will, but maybe I won’t have to. My current garden space will now allocated solely to other root vegetables this summer and medicinal plants.

That’s what I’m hoping for. Just another step in the direction of self sufficiency. I’ve been rewatching a lot of your videos to get ready for the new addition and have already started seeds for the towers. That is the most painful part, seeing an empty unit because you have no seedlings to put in it. Your instructions have helped tremendously with how I do stuff with my family Rise Garden. I gifted my neighbor my old Gardyn unit and instructed her to watch your videos to get her game on as she dabbles her toes into the water of the hydroponics world, so to speak. What a difference going from unit to unit! The towers were purchased with the extensions, as well as the baby greens kits for each one and cages for all three, so I imagine I should do pretty good! I’ll get the lights before fall so that I can keep growing throughout the NH winters.

So, have you tried Ruth Stout Gardening? All these systems are similar, Ruth Stout, Back to Eden, and Charles Dowding. For vegetable gardening the goal is to cover the ground almost every season with compost. Ruth Stout used hay rather than compost, but the principle is the same, cover the ground with rich compost and that makes for less water usage and better plants (since they are in a microbe rich soil).

@dovh49

@@theaeroponictowerchannel That makes sense. I was trying to find unsprayed hay too with no success. I've just used dead weeds and dead grass and that seemed to work pretty well with not a lot of weeds growing from it. But It was a very small area.

Great video, appreciate your thoughts on gardening. Got a few questions for you. 1. Where do you get your mini broccoli seeds? 2. I got the seeds from totally tomato, Aphids....still working on that! Right now I'm using a sprayer every 3 days with tea tree oil and a dropper full of 12% hydrogen peroxide. I put towels around the base and spray to clean. The giveaway is coming! I'm working on some plans for the facebook group and zoom meetups! I'm slow....but there is a plan in place.

Haha, I meant to say mini cauliflower but I imagine the source is the same for both. I’ll have to grow those. I grew regular sizes ones and they got huge. How costly is it to run the grow lights on the tower gardens ? Thanks
@theaeroponictowerchannel
@theaeroponictowerchannel 6 ай бұрын
The Tower Garden LED Grow Lights Kit is rated at 1 amp, 125 watts, 120 VAC/60 Hz. Assuming you run your grow lights for the recommended minimum 14 hours per day and your power company charges you 12 cents per kilowatt hour, the cost to run those lights would come out to roughly $6.39 per month, or $76.70 per year.
