Most of the questions are silly because the answers were right in the video. I don't blame him for not answering them. Also every installation cost is different because of amount of water, pressure (head), amount of labor, trenching, transportation, etc. Did you think it would be cheap to move a big piece of machinery and building materials to a place in the middle of nowhere? Duh!

@sehonggi Hi.... We have only just turned this on full time. The vidio was taken during commissiong and we tested it to just over 20Kw for a short time to make sure everthing was good. The design is 14.9Kw and I hope it will run at that output for many years. Cheers Martin

@sehonggi The length is 800 meter the diameter is mixed just what ever I could get hold of that was not to expensive. 500mm down to 315mm Cheers Martin

I have heard that induction motors could be connected to the grid and used as generators with a prime mover. Like to see the three line diagram and control schematic of this installation. Great job to all involved in this nice hydro unit. Thanks for sharing.

How is this induction motor generator power? Looks like 3 phase, right? But how was it modified? Normally for this work, a permanent magnet generator is used to generate power. But this is different.

Really guys? Who built it, call me, how much? Go to the freakin company site, which is in the title of the video, and shown several times in the video on the info plate installed on the equipment (Gilkes, if you haven't figured it out). Just looking at this you can tell that this is a very expensive set-up and not well suited for an average homeowner or remote site.

Actually is generated 500,000 kwh so far so its getting better value for money every day, right it was expensive but ultimately it will seem very cheap.

@@pelton242 So that's about 60,000 us dollars worth, over what time and what kind of maintenance is there? My point is that for an average home this might not be worth the trouble. However, I am hoping our next place might be able to install a system suited for our use, which is fairly small. Thank you for responding but I was amazed at the ignorance of some comments and couldn't resist saying something.

This thing is outputting 20 killo watts. That is 20 000 watts, you could run 6 to 7 houses with it. ( 3 kw per house on peak)

+Andrew Watts 3kW peak is pretty low. Most people have electric showers, etc. They're easy 7-15 kW. Which makes complete sense when you have free electricity! Why pay for gas or oil heating!
