Hyenas are only scared of male lions

Filmed in the Kruger park by Brent Schnupp, where he managed to watch this amazing interaction between elephants and hyenas and lions and hyenas.
Hyenas will flee when they see one male lion but fight when they see four lionesses reason being they know that male lions will fight to the death for something they believe its theirs, while lionesses will flee to avoid injuries. in this sighting its the hyenas who chose to flee from a kill they had originally stole from the lions but there was relatively little late to interest the lions.

There is good reason for this. It's not so much that the males are bigger, but that they are much more aggressive. The female will drive the hyena's off and not chase them down. If a male lion catches a hyena… game over. They say a lioness can hold off about 4 or 5 hyenas. But I saw a footage of 2 males take on a clan of over 20. And the clan ran away.

Filmed in the Kruger park by Brent Schnupp, where he managed to watch this amazing interaction between elephants and hyenas and lions and hyenas. Hyenas will flee when they see one male lion but fight when they see four lionesses reason being they know that male lions will fight to the death for something they believe its theirs, while lionesses will flee to avoid injuries. in this sighting its the hyenas who chose to flee from a kill they had originally stole from the lions but there was relatively little late to interest the lions.

I think in the animal kingdom every animals are fear of Male lions for mostly their mane that truly looks so badass and sometimes i feel like Male lions and female lions are different species 😅 female lions aren't close to Male lions in anyway courage,mentality anything i didn't even mentioned about the strength and power because everyone knows Males are gifted to be strong..

Male lions are the only animals hyenas are really afraid of and that for good reason they will try to kill a hyena on sight if there is a chance to get one. But not lionesses hyenas often scare lionesses away from kills as long as there is no big male in sight.

@Harzburgitic ~ no I didn't, hyenas back off from many other big animals... but they are very 'chill' animals too...videos online show them feeding from the same carcass as lioness, jackals, other hyenas (of course) vultures, maribou storks, LEOPARDS!! Hyenas are far more willing to share, there are videos of a hyena and a leopard sharing a fresh kill! The leopard, of course keeps up a steady snarl/growl, while eating...the funny hyena just ripping into the meat, eating 3× the amount of food... there is also footage of hyenas and lioness eating a dead hippo, IN the water! But I simply cannot find that footage again 😥 spotted hyenas are very smart animals.... they gage each confrontation, with each animal as is, each day, with caution and respect...
