Don't get me wrong I love Travis & all his music but with this logic anyone can re-release an album and take over the charts... I feel Sabrina had an amazing album (granted not what I'd go for but still humor me) but Travis releasing DAYS BEFORE RODEO seemed like a cop out just to have a project out this year & personally I would've loved a Utopia Deluxe or a Jackboys 2 (which I believe is confirmed) but to do this seems lousy he didn't even label it as a remastered or a re-release so if anyone who's not in the loop like that listens (new fans) they'd be under the assumption that it's all new. physical album sales are records sold to record stores not to the public . the shop buys the albums and sells them to the public . how do you not know this ? a record label can sell 1 million albums to Walmart and if only 1 person buys 1 album then the artist has still sold 1 million albums . have you never seen a sale bin of albums a shop cant sell ? the rules exist to stop record label people from going into the shop and buying the album then selling them back to the shops to inflate numbers . another way to inflate physical numbers besides bundling them with tshirts , posters, concert tickets is to have fake shops make orders or for labels have contacts in record stores that place orders for albums in the week of release like the last day , then after those album sales are counted for charts and before the physical records are delivered the order gets canceled . but the sales dont get taken off that weeks chart . that is the reason why billboard probably didnt count his record labels claims that on the very last day, in the very last hour , his record label just happened to sell just the right amount of albums ,to a mysterious buyer , to just push his number to the number one slot . you need to know how this game was always played . you actually think one physical album sale means one fan bought a album and took it home ? do you not know all those sales numbers include all the cds sitting on shop shelves ? so what was the second week , third week sale numbers then ? canceled orders and full stock rooms

Lots of artists operate a online store that buys physical albums from the label in bulk and then they sell to the public direct online. It's not the actual label selling direct to consumers . The online store still has a stock in a wear house that they purchased from record labels. Same with tshirts and posters . There is no way a competent manager and artists is going to take a percentage split on the album being sold by a label in the label own online store when they can take a 30% cut of the top by owning their own online store . I would put money on travis owning his own website and online shop and it not being owned by a record label . Even KZbinrs have their own online shop . In UK we still have record stores , maybe it's very different in USA, not like it used to be , but they still operate that old way and still count for a real percentage of charts
