Hi Adrian, can’t thank you enough for doing such great research to share with us. I have a couple of questions. 1) as the unit price increase, the dividend relative to the price falls. So new purchases will produce a lower and lower dividend rate. Will some of these high dividend eventually be reduced to producing the same as some high dividend stocks like the banks and telecommunications but with lower upside potential? 2) you had mentioned that you tend to invest most of your spare cash. When you sold your house and suddenly came into possession of hundreds of thousands of $, how did you start investing? I don’t mean what to buy but rather how much to buy at a time? Just use up all the cash in a day, a week, a month? As always your view is much appreciated!
@PassiveIncomeInvesting
@PassiveIncomeInvesting 2 жыл бұрын
I invested it all in one day 😉 , and no the dividend won’t get reduced , or it shouldn’t . The price has no effect on the dividend amount . The price (up or down) is simply capital appreciation or depreciation from the underlying

Please correct me if I am wrong but does leverage not carry a certain amount of inherent risk? This is why funds generally don't carry a 1.5 or 2x leverage ratio. Does leveraging the purchase of ETF's which already contains leveraged stocks make HYLD slightly riskier than owning the ETF's individually? Other than just simplicity, what is the advantage of owning HYLD over the individual ETF's since the yield is slightly lower and the fees are slightly higher? Just trying to be the devils' advocate I guess and will probably still get a small position in HYLD even though I own every single one of these ETF's already. Thanks again the video was extremely well laid out.
@PassiveIncomeInvesting

There’s no risk for buy and hold investors . What’s the risk ? A little more price fluctuations? So it’s nothing. Also the etfs inside hyld are not leveraged . Also since the fund is diversified and holds some gold producers , the fluctuations are lower .

Hey I have a question for you bro I'm 24 years old I just started investing... Would you reccomend me to start investing into high income etfs like you or simply into the sp500 etfs for growth for net gains ? Like how much should I have in money to be invested before it makes sense to invest for income... Essentially my question might be who wins in like 40 year period simply investing for growth or does income investing will come to the same net gain but making easier to continue growing your portfolio because of drip or reinvesting dividend compared to investing your after tax dollars every pay cheque on growth etf? What would you say ? What should I focus on ? Hope this question makes sense
@PassiveIncomeInvesting
@PassiveIncomeInvesting 2 жыл бұрын
It makes perfect sense and my answer will be a little biased for sure . Typically and historically , investing in a low fee, passive index etf like an sp500 typically wins long term … but … your fate does reside with what the stock market . Nobody can really say what it will do in the next 40years. My way of investing is a more pessimistic way of investing where you make you money with time and income , so you are much less dependent on what the stock market does … personally I would always chose income investing , even thought chances are , your total return will be higher with growth . But thanks to great leveraged funds like hyld , it can change all that …

Always the main question with these covered call etf is, does the stock price of the etf will grow over time? or the hight distribution is part of your money and grind the growth of the etf over time...
@PassiveIncomeInvesting
@PassiveIncomeInvesting 2 жыл бұрын
The answer is always the same , they do whatever the underlying assets do but to a lesser extent because if the covered calls . Your return comes primarily from the income , not the growth. You cannot have this yield and expect high growth . So if you see a reduced growth rate as grinding ( which I don’t ) it might not be for you . It’s simply a way to get income instead of growth

Many times during this video, the distribution is called "dividend". Looking at their website, they also use that word too. So I'm guessing the distribution is a dividend and not Return of capital or capital gains. That's good. Do you know if they are eligible dividends?

No its a Distribution with various sources of income . Dividends, or eligible dividends are only on single Canadian companies

Great video Adrian, thank you. I have a question regarding the MER. Is it simply 0.65% or is this 0.65% on top of all the underlying ETFs? That would make it quite expensive. Thanks in advance.

On top . Income is NET of fees

I like to make USD but don't like the current exchange rate. If I purchased shares now would you advice journaling over the HYLD shares to HYLD.U when the exchange rate is more favorable?

It was a really great Q &A video. I know it's 10% yield but what's the dividend in $? Thanks Adrian ❤

Hi Bill ..this what i got back in reply to this question: In general, for our ETFs, the ex-dividend date is the second to last business day of a month, and the payment date for distributions is 8 business days after the ex-date. We will issue a press release confirming the dates and amounts at least 5 business days before the ex-date.

You will find out in 2 weeks . It’s not declare yet but I’m guessing close to 1.6 annually . Since it started at 16$

Hi Adrian - what is the overall MER of this fund? Given that the management fee is an additional 0.65 on top of the underlying fund

I don’t think it’s out yet since it’s a new fund . Whatever it is it’s worth it to me . These are specialized income funds . If fees are your main concern might as well buy a vanguard index fund and that’s it.

While this is a decent ETF.... the dividend is better on the cost per share and dividend payout for QYLD and RYLD.

How much is the interest on the leveraged portion? These funds can hurt more when things go down even though they are covered call ETFs. Depending on the interest rate on the leveraged portion

Not if you just hold them … it’s a lot lower than the rate you can get that’s for sure
