The Aditya Hrudayam exactly takes 8 minutes 19 seconds to complete. This is the same time the sun light to reach earth (8.3 minutes , .3 minutes is 19 seconds). One of the authentic Aditya Hrudyam Singers. Great Job.

आदित्यहृदयम् is a hymn associated with Āditya and was recited by the sage Agastya to Rāma on the battlefield before fighting the demon king Rāvana. This historic hymn starts at the beginning of the duel between Rāma and Rāvana. Agastya teaches Rāma, who is fatigued after the long battle with various warriors of Lankā, the procedure of worshiping the Sun God for strength to defeat the enemy. These verses belong to Yuddha Kānda (Book 6, Canto 107), in the Rāmāyana and compiled by Vālmīki.

Ramayana is the story taking place within each one of us. Certainly Ravana is not eternally dead, he lives as the ego within many of us (may be not within the perfect man). and certainly not limited to Sri Lanka the beautiful country! I hope there won't be a Hitler like Ravana raising again to scrouge the world..I think the time has come to move to the era of enlightenment. Ramesh Krishnakumar

Very true,Ramayana is the story of the man,it’s of the man navigating himself between the choices of being the Ram, living by the word he gives to his conscience, and the other to suppress and thwart his own conscience for momentary gain and pampering his ego to his peril.

Ravana was a great king, warrior , administrator and statesman. His bakthi was of the highest level....composer of Shiva Tandava Stotra...he begged Shiva for moksha...after being tired of winning all the three worlds...Shiva replied he had blessed him with supreme powers and only Narayana could give him liberation...Ravan knew all along this game plan and played his part for the divine play to unfold and teach humankind....

I think there is a hidden allegorical meaning to the Ramayana narrative. Ram is our true inner self, our inner divinity which we "banish" from our daily lives. Ravana is the ego with which rules most of our life. However, with Devotion ( Hanuman) and Focus ( Lakshman) we overcome the ego (Ravana) ( Cont'd)

Om Adityaya Namaha About Aditya Hrudayam Strotram, Maharishi Agastya promises Rama, “During times of danger, in places of fear or uncertainty, whoever recites this hymn shall not fall into misery. Upon chanting this hymn thrice unto Lord Aditya with complete devotion, you shall attain victory. You shall defeat Ravana the very next instant, Oh Rama!” - Verses 25-27.

Benefits of the Aditya Hridayam Having extolled the Sun as the very Supreme Being that all aspirants, Devas, Asuras and Rishis strive to know, Maharishi Agastya provides a long list of benefits: Destruction of your sins Victory in battle/destruction of enemies Alleviate worry, anciety and self-doubt Instils determination and confidence Long life Prosperity The Sun is effectively the universal illuminator. When chanted, the Aditya Hridayam illuminates one’s soul (destroys sins), one’s mind (instils clarity of thought), one’s heart (determination and confidence), and one’s body (a long disease free life).

Thank you Subbarao, I fully agree, fear comes if we do not have faith in the dispeller of light then it is darkness , doubts about your self, about others, about destiny. The world is full of fear mongers mostly in the mode of darkness... I believe after darkness, light will shine and that will be doubly uplifting since the experience of darkness will make it doubly effective ... I think this is the essence of Ramayana.

thanks for enlightening. fear is the key, doubt creates fear ,fear is degenration and defeat, fear is inertia and inaction, fear is poverty and and lack of progress. just as aditya hridayam, bhagavad geeta is all about removal of doubt and goading into action.probably the same here at ramayana, thru sage agastya. hence the word bhagavan rishi.
