I still love my 09 Gv650 here in the states. It's a great runner. Sounds like yours is as well. I like riding this thing more than I did my 08 Triumph Bonneville. I used a heavy aircraft wax on all the chrome like I did on the older Japanese bikes. Still looks new. Be safe.

Deezildennis Yeah, I keep making excuses to myself to go for a ride for any reason. Definitely a lot of fun cruising around on it. Thanks for the tip on the wax, as I was unsure if it would work on the GV650 chrome. Sounds like a good excuse to ride to the shops :) keep safe too buddy

Getting an 08 for my first bike also. Cheers for your personal take on the bike, helped me decide.

They cool bikes. Change out the stator, regulator rectifier, coils and leads to non OEM Hyosung ones. Otherwise eventually you will be stuck on the side of the road. Replacing them with the original replacement parts will still give you the same issues. Poor quality, but if you change those things you will probably not have any issues with the bike.

I have a 10 GV650, had to replace the front master cylinder and I stripped re-machines the caliper assembly front and back . The brakes are far better now and don't feel so sticky (caliper guide pin fit is a bit tight on the GV650 so sticks a bit). I use sintered back and front brake pads and Im happy with the bike for the first time. I just need to figure out whats the best rear tyre is as what I have (goodyear) slips a bit going around corners even though the tread looks fine.

+Richard Neal (Tuxbot) - I don't notice anything wrong with my brakes so i think they are fine on mine. Glad you got yours fixed and now are enjoying the ride for the first time :) My 2010 only has about 6000 km and the rear tyre is still good so have not changed it yet. I am replacing the front tyre soon though because it has started to show signs of aging with small hairline cracks appearing on the sides of the rubber.

All my bikes speedos are out by about that much mate, thanks for the review, my son is looking at one. And yes people do buy crappy looking bikes, my RF900R is a love or hate look, and just look at the triumph speed triple! But the GV650 is nice from any angle. Greetings from NSW.

how are you liking the bike im thinking of buying a gv650 later on this year.

mine is a 2010 model and it is such a nice ride and goes well. they are cheap compared to other brands and the build quality is average. the chrome is all plastic except for the exhaust and engine. for me it, it is my first bike and i have really loved riding it and havent regretted owning her. downfalls to the bike is if something goes wrong with the efi, it will cost a bit to diagnose as the computer doesn't store or have specific fault codes. parts can be an issue in australia as most bits will have to be ordered in.

+outie555 you havent had any major issues though right? id say thats pretty good build quality for a 6 year old bike. im a lil hesitant because i read on the forums about several issues however i understand thats what mostly gets posted in forums. i have a kawasaki ninja 250 as my first bike its a lil small for my taste.

I had to issues which were the result of my coils being rubbish. It cost a lot to get diagnosed and repaired. The issue with the coils caused other issues with heating which ruined my coolant tank. There are really awesome bikes that are fun to ride with plenty of punch, but if you do get a problem with them that is not covered by warranty then be prepared for it to cost you both money and time (weeks in some cases) waiting for parts. Mine is all fixed now so I am happy with it again :) If you are worried about them, have a chat with your local mechanic first to see if they will service them, as some mechanics have had enough of hyosung bikes.

+outie555 thats one of the topics ive read about in the forums.bad coils lead to unburned fuel in ur cats

+Goku it's up to you, you definitely get a lot bike for your money with hyosung, and if you spent the same money on another bike you would end up with something no where near as good and less cc engine. In the long run you do get what you pay for with reduced quality, but the bikes are cheap, look great, and have plenty of power. Down side in my opinion is the lack of mechanics who know how to fix them if they break, and the delay in parts. I don't regret mine and would happily buy it again if i had the choice. Hyosung bikes are great for beginner to intermediate riders for the low cost and bang for your buck. More advanced or long term riders would probably want something with better build quality and solid reliability, if they could afford it.
