Kimmich nailed it when he said NEIPAs are "chalky". The most significant flaw in IPAs imo. The great ones avoid this. The dime a dozen brewers end up brewing this way. Unfortunately I can't get alchemists beers regularly, but Fiddlehead's second fiddle is a shelf beer here and I think a world class mix of west vs east.

I think i'd absolutely love Alchemist beers. I can't stand and am totally sick of stupid gloopy, sweet, oaty messes.

Really can't go wrong. Alchemist for your heavy hoppy beers, as well as well done stouts and porters. Hill Farmstead for your farmhouse and pale ales, Allagash for your Belgian. Would be my top 3 for New England, if not the US.

I have not sampled the Luscious. Now I'm all excited. I've had the Beelzebub stout, which is amazing. If you haven't tried Treehouse stouts you should!

well in our feature we're working on he says he's finally at the point where he can service all of Vermont, so there might be a little expansion out but I don't ever expect much.

Focal is my favorite from them as well. As long as you can get it super fresh, it’s a tough contender with most other IPA’s in my opinion. 🔥

great video, can't wait for the documentary. I'm lucky enough to live driving distance from the Alchemest (2.5hrs, worth the trip). Focal and Luscious are the top ones for me, then Heady.

Focal is my favorite from alchemist. Crusher is quite an experience, I'm a hop lover but that beer is almost too much for me. Good conversation guys, I'm with you on the NEIPA thoughts. Cheers 🍻Scott FHBR

@@TheCraftBeerChannel yup, Alan has finally packed it in. I can't remember where his kit went, I think to a nearby brewery that was looking to get started. I saw that on social a few months back. As for the recipe, who knows.

We get what he means around the astringency and powdery finish some of these beers have due to bad process with that volume of hops. Our feature on him is a few weeks away but he talks more in the doc out next week.

Of course! A great, complex beer but lacked the gorgeous body of Luscious.

they make stellar stouts too. But tend to hop theirs more than this one from the Alchemist.
