At 10:52 why doesn’t white just take the black rook in the corner instead of the knight? I don’t think it gets trapped down there since Nc7 seems open? Maybe I’ve overlooked? Not sure…

I remember playing this line years ago against fast player throwing the moves out and i was alot more familiar with the dragon back then and i played this line or something very close to it and crushed him.l

1:44 GM Yasser Seirawan points out the move Ng4 immediately instead of castling, which pretty much forces white to double the e pawns. Isn't that a better alternative?

@@sauryasircar5326 I've seen the video you refer. He does not goes deep into the line. Just says, more or less, "Queen has given the control of g4 and you take it with Ng4 getting the dark square bishop, so 7.Qd2 is not the best move". My view, is that, even if you can see 7...Ng4 is still popular and with a good score, you haven't played O-O, so in the continuation 7.Qd2 Ng4 8.Nxc6 bxc6 (dxc6 allows a queenless middlegame that I don't see black at the good side) 9.Bd4 gets the bishop away from Ng4 and pressuring the dark square dragon bishop and its rook behind (due to not having played O-O before). Of course, now black needs to play 9...Bh6 10.Qd1 attacking again the Knight and 10...Nf6 places black in a more passive position and white has all the initiative with threats of e5 coming sooner or later. So, in resume, you need to deepen the line and see if you like the reached position. My view, is that unless you go for the queenless middlegame/endgame with dxc6, I don't see any plus in playing Ng4 before O-O, against 7.Qd2. Disclaimer: I'm not a master, so maybe someone more expert can also help here. :)

Hi Jozarov thank you very much for this helpful lessons on the HAD. lnteresting ideas (especially the knight sacrifice) against this bishop to c4 that is really common even for low rated players like me..

10:15 why not take bishop with black knight first and give white option to keep queens on the board for endgame? If white doesn't trade queen, black still has threat of Nxc2 check and fork rook. I just want to understand why black wants queens off board at this stage of the game, is it because of being up 1 pawn and having both central pawns? Is it because there are not evouhg pieces to want queens on the board?, or because white king is not castled?

@@Jozarovschesschannel We can both agree, it is safer for black to get queens off board, espcially when black has equalized. This line seems so aggressive, i'm wondering if this particular queen trade goes for a draw rather than a win for black? (Not counting pawn endgame)

Taking the white bishop with the knight first gets into O-O-O and a future strong attack for white in the kingside with h4-h5. I think after 11...Nxd4 12.O-O-O white is better. But your idea is interesting and I think that after 10.Nxe4, instead of starting with Bxd4 as suggested in the video, 10...Nxd4 poses additional problems for white, as now if white takes 11.Bxd4 we can take back with Bxd4 and keep our dragon bishop on board in an open position (keeping the bishop pair as a bonus).

Hey Jozarov, why after f4, you did not play Nf7…. Wouldn’t you gain material?
