This is such a horrible illness. I have been bed ridden for 2 months. I am hoping second trimester will be a little better but you never know. I have never felt so hopeless like I feel with HG. I never thought pregnancy can be this bad. I haven’t enjoyed the journey of pregnancy at all, I’m just waiting for this all to end.

update not sure how you guys feel about cannabis, but i took a few puffs and felt almost completely cured from the nausea! I’m not sure what the science is behind this or if it’s safe, even that early, but the results were instantaneous fastest I’ve ever seen. Good luck to you all out there.

Ladies, the only thing, what gonna help you is literally life reviving IVs... antisickness medicine has tendencies to make you constipated... ooh, how much I feel you all🌸🩵🌸. Fight for yourself even if " they"( whoever- med. Authoritiee or family) dissmiss or underestimate you.

I am currently 21 weeks and had HG from about week 6 and ongoing. It was a complete nightmare I couldn’t wake up from. It was absolutely terrible landing me in the ER various times and I lost 26 pounds couldn’t even keep water down. No prescribed medication helped UNTIL I entered the second trimester and could take steroid hormones. Completed a 21 day treatment as a last resort and it actually worked! It allowed me to stop vomiting and I began to slowly eat and drink more fluids. My doctors let me know it has some increased risks but more so in the first trimester. Medication has never helped me but this changed my pregnancy journey. I still have occasional nausea and a strange relationship with food but nothing compared to how it was. I urge that if you are suffering with HG that you consult with your OBGYN about hormone steroids.

Can you give anymore information about this?
@lucymaty4545 Жыл бұрын
I went back to review my chart for the name of the medication since it was always referred to me by “steroids” or “steroid hormones.” The name is methylprednisolone 4mg and it was a 21 day treatment 4 doses a day and tapered down until completed. I still got some symptoms here and there but nothing compared to how it was.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through hyperemesis gravidarum again. It's essential to prioritize your health and communicate with your healthcare provider about potential treatment options. If work becomes challenging, consider discussing your situation with your employer to explore supportive measures. Seek support from friends and family to help cope with the physical and emotional strain of this condition.

I can't keep any food or fluids down. I can't even keep the medicine down that I was prescribed for nausea. I have a constant bad/metallic taste in my mouth. I believe I will lose my job because there is no way I can work like this. 😭 I'm also afraid I will lose the baby because I literally cannot eat anything. Nothing.

.. and not a single person has this type of severe nausea in my family , so it's also missleading to say , that those , who has history in family... I actually feel so allieniated, not only in my family but also in close enviroment, where i stay...No one really seems to understand ... it's like they take you as you are pretending and overreacting...
@MedicalCentric3 ай бұрын
@jasmindahir4436 I completely understand how isolating that must feel. Severe nausea, especially when no one around you has experienced it, can make you feel misunderstood and even doubted. It’s frustrating when people don’t realize just how debilitating it is, and it’s definitely not something anyone would pretend or exaggerate. Just know that your feelings are valid, and there are others out there who truly get it. You’re not alone in this, even if it feels that way sometimes. Hang in there! 🌸💙

Noone I knew had this. If it was not for me getting through this, I would not believe that vomiting could cause damage to fetus and mother. I think my state was partially caused by LH hormonal treatment to save the pregnancy, causing harm to my liver. Plus, gallbladder issues.
@MedicalCentric23 күн бұрын
@hollywu7768 I'm really sorry you had to go through such a challenging experience, but it’s commendable that you’re sharing your story. Vomiting during pregnancy can indeed cause serious complications, not just for the mother but also for the fetus, especially when it leads to dehydration or liver stress. Hormonal treatments like LH can have side effects, and gallbladder issues can complicate things further. It’s important to keep working closely with your healthcare team to monitor your recovery and manage any ongoing concerns. I hope things improve for you soon, and thank you for opening up about your experience. Your strength is inspiring.

"can also drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated" , sure buddy sure 😂😂😂
@MedicalCentric5 ай бұрын
@Chronicallythrivingwithshadae Hyperemesis gravidarum can make staying hydrated a real challenge, so I get the sarcasm! 😂 It's tough when even sipping water feels impossible. Keep working with your healthcare provider to find what works best for you-sometimes small sips, electrolyte drinks, or even IV fluids are needed to keep things balanced. Hang in there, you're doing great! 💪😊

HG is not rare!! Very common and it's worse than death!!
@MedicalCentric3 ай бұрын
@FabFit87 It sounds like you're referring to Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG), a severe form of morning sickness during pregnancy. You're absolutely right-HG is not rare, and for many, it can feel overwhelming and debilitating. The extreme nausea, vomiting, and inability to keep food down can make it feel unbearable, far worse than typical morning sickness. It’s important for anyone suffering from HG to seek medical support to manage symptoms and ensure both the mother and baby stay healthy.
