Hyperemesis Gravidarum (Pregnancy Nausea): Risks, Symptoms, Complications, Diagnosis, Treatment
Hyperemesis Gravidarum is an obstetrical condition involving excessive and intractable nausea and vomiting that occurs during pregnancy. Multiple factors increase the likelihood of having this condition including hyperthyroidism, obesity and having a twin or triplet pregnancy. The exact underlying cause is not entirely known but it is believed to be due to high levels of particular hormones. In this lesson, we discuss the signs and symptoms and when they occur, including important complications, how it’s diagnosed and how it’s treated.

Thank you for making a video about this mostly unknown condition. I had this 3 years ago during my pregnancy and I’m still mentally plagued by it, it was the worst experience of my life to date. It also isn’t only in the first trimester, I had it for the whole 40 weeks.

@@elcuhh2861 I was lucky enough to be able to be hospitalised, all up 11 times. I was able to have access to IV fluids and medication.

I suffered this for the whole 9 months on all three pregnancies, 24/7 I couldn’t stand the smell or sight of food, and was hospitalised each time too. I lost a substantial amount of weight and weighed less at the end of pregnancy than at the beginning of each pregnancy.

@@elcuhh2861 it was sheer hell, but I love 💕 babies, I would have gone on to have six or more had it not been for this problem. It took its toll on my teeth though because now 40 years later they have all fallen out.

my daughter-in-law had this twice. We found a study using gabapentin on women with HG. she started the medication and it helped her a lot. I hope this helps someone else.

Because of glucose deficit and fat coming into use. Also.. excessive vomitting causes ketosis
