Thanks for sharing this. Great explanation for it. I don't get how this info is so readily available on KZbin & all over the internet but specialists within the NHS don't understand asymptomatic hypermobility & hEDS are completely different. It's frustrating how many professionals don't understand.

Thank you! And yes it is incredibly frustrating isn't it! There are so many people who are hypermobile and don't feel the debilitating pain or have a collection of related conditions (MCAS, Pots, Gastroparesis etc) like those of us with EDS have. It is honestly just so exhausting trying to find doctors that will listen to you, especially in a public health care system like the NHS or Canada. We don't have the luxury of firing doctors or hiring our own chosen specialists. Unfortunately, when you get a diagnosis; it often doesn't lead to any help accessing treatment for daily pain and struggles. The one major difference I have noticed since I have been diagnosed is that doctors treat you completely differently and you get pushed through the ER much quicker. I spent 3 years vomiting daily and nobody took any interest in helping me with diagnostics or even fluids. Now with EDS, they send me for a heart tracing with every ER visit and I am usually in and out within 4 hours. It used to be 12 hours for me to just see a doctor most visits except for when I was vomiting blood. It is wild!

@@chroniccare61 ime not sure if I've got eds or hds. Yes it's wrong how many die before diagnosed properly is your pain stabilised

It's not just NHS, it's everywhere. It even states clearly in my journal that I fullfill all the diagnositc, clinical criteria for hEDS, but they still pretend it doesn't exist.

I'm borderline with the new criteria. I filled all the criteria in 2016 when I was assessed by an expert on EDS. She wrote in my journal that I fill all the clinical criteria of hEDS, but never gave me the formal diagnosis. I have ever since tried to get someone to reexamine me and give me a definitive answer. With the new criteria, I sort of land in the gray zone, I still pass most of the criteria. It's just C2 a that is uncertain since I don't know the answers to most of those. I also have all the other non criteria symptoms like heavy and painfull periods, painful intercourse, easy bruising and much more. Just not strechy or fragile skin.
