Hyperspectral Imaging for Coral Assessment.- 16min

A 16-minute video about a Headwall hyperspectral imaging mission to Mote Marine Laboratory in Summerland Key, Florida, to help assess their coral, both in the tanks on shore as well as in the ocean from a drone. We used the Headwall Nano HP hyperspectral imaging sensor, and the Headwall Rotary Stage.
Mote Marine Laboratory’s Coral Reef Restoration Research Program develops and applies science-based strategies with the goal of restoring depleted coral reefs in our lifetime. Specifically, Mote researchers are working to optimize restoration using diverse coral genotypes (genetic varieties), prioritizing native genetic varieties that can resist SCTLD and other stressors such as increased water temperatures and ocean acidification.
Collaborating with Mote is Sea Foundry, an organization bringing manufacturing technology to coral restoration. Thoughtful application of production technology can greatly accelerate restoration efforts. By improving the efficiency, repeatability, and scalability of reef restoration, Sea Foundry's work can amplify naturally occurring resilience and recovery.
