@4:25 is why 90% of people work out period. Most won’t admit it, or even can’t admit it. Once I arrived at this realization, I figured out that Olympic lifts, powerlifting training, etc., was a distraction. Just embrace bodybuilding people, there is no shame in it!
@douglasschrift44533 жыл бұрын
I think initially off the bat you’re correct. I started working out at 18 and I was absolutely to get more attractive and look good. Even if someone starts working out later in life that’s likely a big reason. But for many people it’s not the biggest reason or starts becoming less of a priority later in life. I’d be lying to you if I said I didn’t care about how I looked, but 11 years in it’s not my biggest concern. I don’t powerlift bc I don’t compete but I strength train bc I value strength. I think a lot of others value strength as well. And the good thing is I’m not sacrificing size for it. The only difference between what I do now and training for looks (I wouldn’t call it bodybuilding if someone doesn’t compete) is that I don’t emphasize side delts and biceps. Besides that I need to maximize just about every other muscle group in order to be my strongest. So I’d argue there’s really not a huge difference
@imsorrythankyouplease76133 жыл бұрын
You’re totally right. “What is your goal?” “I want strength” “Squat bench and deadlift or more functional strength?” “Whatever it takes to get big muscles.” “So you want to be 190 or more like 210?” “Probably more like 170 so I have abs and don’t look blocky.” “THEEEERE we go!”

Appreciate the content you are putting in this channel. I used to follow Athlean-x to the T and thought I had good results, but moved to RP templates, adding in a few tweaks from athlean-x but man the results I got with RP templates (personalized for my needs) blew anything I saw before out of water!

He was a professor at some point, might still be actually. I have a masters in exercise science and have trained both athletes and general population. Currently managing a fitness center at two branches.

Lost me a bit with the American football stuff but great podcast! Gave me stuff to think about with partials/cheats. I thought they were ok when you'd reached failure to squeeze a bit more out of the sets. I guess that a drop set with good form would be a better idea then?
@LiftingExplained3 жыл бұрын
Drop set is better, or just add an extra set.
@CaptainBrash3 жыл бұрын
@@LiftingExplained good to know, I'll keep that in mind. I thought about a video idea, if I've thought about it I'm sure others have. You review a lot of other people's training plans, so first part is a question. 1: do you use any of these training plans, or is the review based purely on your knowledge of training systems. 2: a video on what kind of training you do could be interesting, I know you touched on it on the video you did about training when you have time constraints. But yeah, I think it would be interesting to find out a bit more about how you train and why you train the way you do and your training goals. If there is anything you would change for yourself in an ideal world (more time, more equipment, etc)

I see males doing super fast reps (like 1/2 a second) and every week I lift with them. It takes me much longer to complete my sets than them. I keep wondering if I should be going faster or if they should be slowing down. My thoughts are that they are either not lifting as heavy as they could or they are just being sloppy. I am a newbie but I see all kinds of weird shit going on and have so many questions. I even asked one time why somebody was lifting so fast and they couldn't tell me.
@l.p.75853 жыл бұрын
How fast you do the rep doesn't really matter (unless you're training for speed, like a shot putter or a weight lifter), but if you choose weights that you can move comfortably and safely in the 8-30 range it's all a good starting point. Close to failure (2 or 3 in the tank) for sets of between 8 to 30 (whatever you prefer in terms of loading or length, both are good but both are hard in their own way) and you'll be on you're way :)

You forgot on your introduction, That Mike Israetel Doesn't know what he's talking about. You meed to interview (Doug Brignole), go back and watch this video then tell me how silly the nature of this interview really is. This is Bodybuilding in The Age of STUPID.
@LiftingExplained2 жыл бұрын
Explain how Mike doesn't know what he's talking about and what he said that's silly. Also, Mike and Doug agree on pretty much most things, so trying to say Doug is somehow better or more knowledgeable doesn't even make sense.
@animal93702 жыл бұрын
@@LiftingExplained That's what I'm saying.Doug makes Mike look like a FOOL. And NOOOOO. They don't agree on "Pretty Much Most Things". That's incorrect from your part sir.

@@animal9370 Again, explain how Mike doesn't know what he's talking about and what he said in this interview that was silly. You didn't the first time I asked. Also show me where Doug disagreed with Mike and made a fool like you claim.
