Air Drop Ravagers in Decked Out 2 - HermitCraft 9 - E42 - Today we're finishing up the last few runs we have for Phase 4! 3 shards remain and the goal I have is to get down to Floor 3 to collect those Golden Egg crowns! We'll be doing Hard runs and if we don't go to Floor 3 the last run we'll do DEADLY to ensure we get that location!

Ironically, Tango had tried to fix that ledge in run 48 some time before. Not only did the "fix" not stop ravagers from jumping off, it created the perfect ninja hiding spot for them to lie in wait AND somehow made it an enticing spot for them to pathfind to. On Tango's stream you could see Nugget mountaineering straight back up to pounce position after ending your run :D

Yeah I could have sworn he put alternating wall posts all along that ledge so that ravagers couldn’t fit. Did he remove one of the posts?

You really should fill up on common cards as soon as possible in order to shield yourself from the stumbles. That's where most of your troubles lie i think.

Can you prove that, statistically? He already has 5 sneaks, and as long as he gets out with cards remaining, I think more commons will only hurt him. Because it will dilute his deck with weak cards he doesn't want played.

@@Muskar2 not bringing statistics, but even if he comes out with cards in his deck, the ammount of stumbles builds up because his deck is big. It will probably be worth it to get out without the value of a couple of cards just to push the stumbles further, since Hypno constantly stays in the dungeon until the vex are in play. He commonly is attacked by vex while still in level 2 of the dungeon, and has been dying more and more on his way back through level 1 since Tango wants the way back to be dangerous if players keep overstaying.

​@@Muskar2 Tango agrees with you but Etho disagrees and I'll side with the champ. The deck gets diluted with stumbles anyway. A stumble is +2 clank. The common is -2 and the uncommon -4. The massive jump from stumble to common makes the commons worth it. The only reason to thin your deck is if you're going for something very specific, perhaps built around a permanent. Sadly, the random shop means there is none of that yet. It may also be viable for super aggressive players but the way keys can just not show up can ruin that strategy on floor 1 and fill you with stumbles.

I watched that final death happen live, and it was absolutely heartbreaking. It was turning out to be the golden run, with all the Moment of Clarity cards, and the double Reckless Charge. I couldn’t even laugh at the time, I was just so devastated to see that happen. I’m happy that you were able to laugh it off though. Because in reality, that Raveger RKO is hilarious.

During Tango's stream I didn't notice which ravager did the ninja drop... But seeing it was Nugget is perfect -I believe the ravager is (possibly indirectly) named after Pearl's cat

In decked out level 2, at the far end of the bridge, underneath and slightly to the right of the bridge, there is a 1 block wide, 2 block tall gap in the stone wall, maybe there is an easter egg hidden back there in a tiny hidden room, but maybe there are custom maps on item frames, with the stone texture pattern, to make it look like there is nothing there. Those item frames might be placed on a door so that if you were to run into it, you would not go through, but you would have to right click to open the door, to get through. This way it would be extremely unlikely someone would accidently find it, and the hermits would really have to think outside the box to find it. I think Tango said a while back, something along the lines of, there would be like 3 or 4 easter eggs that would be near impossible for the hermits to find, and Tango would have to give them hints. It's just that a random 1 block, wide, 2 block tall gap in the wall seems suspicious.

You can see a clear difference in approach between a lot of hermits. Hypno plays for reckless charge but not having a lot of clank block and not a lot of treasure, so it takes some time for him to get keys and he’ll get to max clank pretty fast. Doc and Etho have about +20 clank and hazard block in their decks and especially Etho has like +40 treasure in his deck as well, so getting keys and longer runs is easier for them. They are more likely to finish a hard/deadly run, which I think gives more embers in the long run. Some people play slow and calculated, while others go hard or go home.

What hypno doesn't have is hazard blocks. Those water traps which kill hypno most of the times are hazard traps. Hypno got number of clank blocks but not many hazard blocks and that's what's killing him. The reckless charge cards all 3 combined adds 6 more clank to the run even if not activated.

A big part of the problem is that when Hypno bought them, the Reckless Charge cards were pretty solid for mid-high tier cards. With all the changes I really think their a liability overall. Guaranteed 6 hazard just having them in the deck, very low chance of proccing them (seems like 1/4 have been activated the last couple weeks), and you don't even get all the embers... his average is probably 5 embers per activation... all in all it's practical specs are +8 hazard, +1 clank, +5 embers (in inventory), plus the less tangible downside of putting yourself in risky situations in order to activate it. Compared to all the other cards in its tier, including much cheaper ones, it's incredibly weak now after all the changes.

It’s a combination of everything I think. Not having the treasure to get keys quick and not having the hazard and clank block to get out safely after getting the lvl 3 artefact. Just having more cards would also mean less chance of getting stumble as well, so when people like Doc or Etho go into lvl 3, they usually get out with clank blocks still up. Etho especially is good with ravager luring and doesn’t panic much or yolo’s when the situation is hard and has a good memory to keep track of where ravagers are, while also having beast sense. Hypno’s deck is good for embers, but it’s unlikely he’ll get successful runs, so it’s kinda redundant imo.

40:00 you could have used the left door and juked the ravager there. There is a little juke spot. But with all the Vex out, you probably wouldn't have made it either way. What can you say, max clank, you aren't supposed to make it out when you hit it, most of the time.

He needs Evasion cards. After he gets 3/3 of those, he needs at least 1 Eerie Silence card to be fully out of the water. Then, he can thrive on the deeper runs. I do notice that he's been struggling finding keys a bit, and has been wasting an enormous amount of time waiting for them to pop up while generating more clank. Another Loot & Scoot, and a Nimble Looting will go very far towards speed running himself back into 1st place.

Yeah he goes really deep despite having a small deck, most players that make to level 3 have sizeable decks and lots of experience

Yeah, well.. at least half of his deaths were achieved at maxed clank, so he does feel every ounce of his small deck's weight upon his shoulders, both killing him on the run back, or making him feel pressured to push forwards; also, resulting in deaths. He wants some Evasion cards, but RNG is not favoring him. I'm sure he would've gotten at least one were he to actually complete more runs. Running more medium runs before going crazy would've been a better strategy, but now it would make him feel like he's falling behind. The deaths will create a similar result. He's deep underwater at this point.

Hazard block is criminally underrated. Most deaths in level 2 are because you have to take a certain route that isn't blocked. I thought it was Iskall who has hazard deck. Watching him after you and Etho is crazy, so many easy paths in and out, I think it's underrated

I’m kind of surprised hermits aren’t buying the random key in the shop. Seems like it could be very useful to have a guaranteed key given the number of runs where players waste tons of time/clank/hazard looking for one. Particularly if they are doing a deadly run and need both keys anyways.

We're more concerned about buying more shards for runs. We get limited runs per week so crowns are coveted.

2 Guaranteed key going into Deadly run is arguably more valuable than 6 crowns (75% of a Shard). Searching for keys is time wasted. Zooming into level 3 and getting out with artifact, then farm with remaining cards for 6 crowns and an entry shard, may yield more than 6 crowns.

This ignores the fact that you need berries in the lower levels, which you mostly acquire on floor 1. I think, in most cases, the key is not worth it, unless you have that card which drops a number of embers at the start of floor 3.

I love the way that hypno plays decked out. So entertaining to watch and has me on the edge of my seat. I love how we the audience get to learn along with hypno as he plays. The attention to detail, both during the game and in the remarks after the run, is awesome.

Eerie Silence seems really good. The "downside" of skipping a card draw could help extend your run and skip Stumbles. Yeah, Hazard is time-based, but still, especially if you're running a lean deck, wouldn't that extend your playtime neatly?

Well, when it says it skips the next card, it means that the card is drawn but it’s effect is not played. It is the exact opposite of the card you would want to be running if you are running a lean deck. Ideally it would be played and the next card played would be a sneak or a stumble, but say it was a card like Nimble Looting, that is a very bad card to be skipped. It also does not extend the run because that skipped card cannot be played again for the rest of the run.

​@@keithwiechart7744​Assuming one runs one's deck out each run, the odds of skipping a stumble are 20-25%. Not high, not worth counting on, but not very low either. (number calculated by simulating decked out's system with a simple program, using C++'s mt19937_64 struct).

IMO Reckless Charge needs a rework: Perhaps it could do: - +15 seconds of Speed Boost - For the next 15 seconds every (different) shrieker activated gives: +4 Frost Ember, +1 Hazard (for up to 3 times) (Each shrieker that gets activated while the card is active would immediately turn off.) Why is the current design bad? I feel like in it's current state Reckless Charge is a bit odd because (unless I'm mistaken) whether you trigger it or not it gives you +2 Hazard; and +10(!!) Frost Embers if you do. The concept is: for some added risk you get the chance to gain a lot of extra loot, which, although on paper seems like a fair exchange, in reality is quite deceiving. You see, you get the negative stuff when the card procs regardless if you can actually complete the challenge it offers. In short if you get the 10 Embers you just feel like you justified the +2 Hazard that you got anyways, but if you don't you just become sad like you sabotaged your own run by adding the Hazard for no reason. Because there is so much at stake you feel pressured to camp at a shrieker waiting for the card to play; this I consider a design flaw. How does my proposal fix this? My version of the card gives the runner more control; whether they want to add more risk but gain extra loot OR opt out and keep your head low in case you feel like you created too much clank already. The loot you gain is devided into different phases, so you wouldn't get any 'unfair' trades and you can opt out any time you want. And even if you can't find any shriekers at least you don't get any negative effects. Also perhaps the most important bit: the name of the card would be more fitting. Since the card would no longer pressure you into camping near an active shrieker or reward you as much for doing so. Potential Issue: Since I'm not Tango and I haven't made and Decked Outs (yet) I don't know and can't check if the current system would support the "shriekers turn off after being activated" concept. I am hoping it does, but there is no guarantee, and it would be a lot of work to add such feature only for this card. In other words, these changes are either (relatively) easy to make OR exceptionally time consuming. OFC in the second case I would never expect this proposal to be implemented, but I thought I would make this comment regardless, since who knows, maybe it can work out so easily. Hypno, since you have the most experience with Reckless Charge, I would be curious as to what your oppinion may be. (Also the comment is here after all, under your vid...) Well anyways, if you find the idea intriguing and worth your time, could you forward this proposal to Tango, so that it may inspire him? In any case, I'm greatful if you so much as read this message, and perhaps take some time to share your thoughts, too!

I'm not sure where you got the idea that Tango wants the game to be fair. He very much does not. Key drops being random, cards you can buy being random, which compass (even which floor) you get is random, the loot from the compass varies a lot, the crown shop is random iirc, which hazards drop, where Willie is. He was even reluctant to zone the ravagers. The current card gives you the option to not add the hazard. You don't put it in your deck. The deck building is core and good cards have downsides. The card has already being nerfed once (I think prematurely) because it's so good. 10 embers for 1 clank and 2 hazard is +7. The uncommon ember card is +4 so if you can trigger Reckless Charge over 57% of the time it's better than having a Frost Focus or any of the other standard uncommons. It's actually a better card than the rare "Deepfrost" if drawn on level 1 (+0) or 2 (+6). Only if that card is drawn once you're down to level 3 (+12) is Deepfrost more valuable but then you're sneaking around so are less likely to actually get the embers. Also, Hypno is maybe the best at getting it to trigger. He camps it because his deck is small (so there's a good chance it comes soon), he's often healing at the same time, and he thinks it's worth it.

It's actually so much fun watching your runs. You are insanely observant and you take risks and explore. I've been loving this! I wonder if it's better to just run when you get Reckless Charge. I'm worried the jumping means you might be jumping over shriekers.

Bit late watching this video but the death on run 47 was potentially avoidable. The left door (not camped by ravager) leads to a split that Etho almost always uses to duke ravagers. Assuming it wasnt stuck and the vex didnt kill you you could have 100% duped the ravager there as there is no hazard door in that area.

3:00 That's rough but makes sense, it seems pretty uncommon though so I doubt it will get fixed. Besides, if Tango did try to block it with the existing player floor tracking system you could probably abuse it by making the game think you left floor 3 to avoid the clank generation that would come from getting an artifact.

That's not the solution at all. The solution is checking what fell in the hopper and only add clank and pop an artifact if it's correct. It's a lot of work so won't get implemented but it's the same as the fact you can throw any compass in any spot. You could actually always go easy and if you get an early key go and throw it in the best artifact spot on level 2 that's easy to get to, or even level 3, if you don't get a key then just throw it in a floor 1 one. It's something that would need to be fixed if it weren't on a server where people can be trusted to not cheat.

Watched the Ravager from the top rope on Tango's stream from his view, though I'm sure you don't find as entertaining, it is one of the best deaths yet in Decked Out. I think there should be a trophy at end of the event for best death!

Hypno I think I know where two eggs are. Grian’s egg is on level 3 in the big room requiring jump boost to make the 4 2 block high jumps. Grian built the lab on level 2. By that logic Since Pearlscentmoon also built in level 2 her egg must be on level 3.

I think maxing out the common cards is probably worth it- the deck seems too small to really consistently get enough embers for more uncommons.

Reckless Charge desperately needs un-nerfing. The loot cap on level 1 was enough, 12 seconds is more than fair to trigger it given that you can't just stand around on easy farming it.

Just by watching every one else play it seems level 1 is the perfect place to get loot all the drop locations are relatively close and drop very frequently. You can collect up to 8 frost embers farming and even more if you know we’re the locations are.

I've mentioned the Key idea to Tango in one of his streams, with the idea of having an extra room close to the exit with a mid-risk/mid-reward trader (Where you need to parkour over lava, or juke a raveger on the way in and out of that room) where you can trade your keys per 1 coin per level. (So level 1 keys = 1 coin, level 3 key = 3 coin, etc) -- He actually replied to it, since it was left by a donation for him, he said he'll look into it.

Best advice I can give is just go medium or hard mode and play for cards look at doc and etho and cub they have hazard and clank block uncommon cards he should also play for cards that could make the run easier and in long term he will get more frost ember drop which will ultimately help him get a 40 token pack and a card possibility

I think you're right, when you do the early runs its like you are Tango's QA tester for the changes he makes on the weekends. You find some really interesting bugs, like I didn't know wardens fighting slimes might set off an artifact and give clank. It was a tough phase, may the RNG be kind next phase

Hypno, If your run is going well, you can still go down to level 3 even though you have a level 2 compass. There's nothing stopping you from navigating the whole dungeon regardless of difficulty.

You should probably hold out on deadlys and farm hard mode the whole of next phase so you can build up your deck, and then phase 6 onwards things should be looking better for you.

It's sad to see so much bad luck, you're playing so well. Pretty sure that elusive Evasion card would significantly boost your win rate. But some things that happen in your runs are just freakishly unlucky, I don't think I've seen other Hermits come even close. But that might also be your amazing post commentary that points out so many small things I wouldn't even notice in other people's runs. But any bad luck is going to run out some day. With your level of mechanics and dungeon knowledge and a Deck like Doc's you'd be unstoppable!

Keys are more likely to deploy on the further side of level 1, by the tnt pile/dripstone water/“secret” entrance to basement

my thoughts for run 47: you might have been able to go thru the door on the left and pulled the ravager away from there. tho with the water and the vex I dont know how well it actually would have worked, but its an idea. but ultimately, I think that death was just due to hazard and clank. if the door on the right was open, or the vex werent out, it would have been fine

That last run I saw on Tango's stream and the ravager dropping out of nowhere was crazy! I felt so bad for you because of all the potential embers and it all going to waste.

I think it'd be cool if extra keys could be traded in for signs that players can place in the dungeon. Like maybe level 3 has a thing you can dump keys into and after 10 or so keys it dispenses a sign. It could be like a dark souls message situation where the players can leave tips or markers for shrieker locations, treasure drop spots, directions around hazard blocked passages. It might end up trivialising the game a bit tho, so maybe only so many signs can be dispensed per phase? Alternatively, each level could have a spot where you can dump the keys found on that level to reduce the hazard level by 1 each? Would make sense for a key to do that, and it could make all the difference escaping a long, clanky run

the second to last run, you were thinking you couldnt go to the left becuase of a hazard, but there isnt a hazard down that way, that way stays open no matter what, its why theres water there as well... in fact theres a pillar to loop a ravanger around.

39:06 You did great, but it's not correct that there's hazard blocking you back behind the left door in the circular ice room. In fact, it's one of the few locations where you can loop exit-blocking ravagers. There might have been a slim chance that you could've made it if you went that way but it still wouldn't have been easy, so don't be hard on yourself.

I think the front of the boat is an area no one has explored. I think you can jump from there to the wall and potentially access the jail cell location

Hope you have better luck next round! I would really try to focus on beefing up your deck, so you have more time before all the stumble cards are drawn. And after that point, it becomes very difficult to remain alive in the dungeon.

End of Run 3 on the left is a loop spot that _doesn't_ have a hazzard door. Still think you likely die there though, as there's vex towards that left exit too.

Tango just loves too see poeple do bad in this game to make atleast one part of minecraft feel nostalgic and doesnt let anyone make the game look so easy which is what hypno thr king fo decked out is doing and tango wont rest until hypno has been nerfed completely

Yeah, that last ravager needs a parachute! In all seriousness, I was there in the live chat asking Tango to fix the wall there when he was building it specifically to NOT let that happen. He walled off the area, then made it look "nicer" and enabled the ravager to climb it still... which is UNINTENDED and should be brought to Tango's attention and fixed. Good luck with future runs, and keep this awesome content coming! Love the edits

I saw some of this, I think on Tango's stream? Love seeing the more immersive player perspective. Also I know that death had to be painful, but it made really good, dramatic entertainment. So a silver lining?

The slime drops in the compass dropoff could start causing probpems in the future, with there being a couple of cards that have effects thag trigger when the artifact is retrived. I wonder how common it is, it seems like it would be painful to fix.

That third run (#47) wasnt *really* killed by bad ravager AI. If you had more hazard block and clank block, you wouldn't have been in such a bad situation in the first place

I **think** that powdered snow area Jevin/Pearl fell through is there to let light through for spawnproofing / subtle lighting, not sure why it's 2-high though.

There was an evoker in that spot, but Tango removed it as it was faulty - setting off vex before max clank. Once the evoker was removed Jev/Pearl fell through. It is just filled with powdered snow now.

okay maybe I'm completely wrong here, but I think you're more likely to cause a sound event if you just sprint around instead of sprint jump. I think you only make sound when you land and when you jump whereas you make sound every tick while just sprinting

Tango is just unnecessarily making things hard now... I mean I understand that it took him half the season to make it... But, come on now... If this is what Hypno and Etho, the literal OP players are going though... Just imagine what is happening to the other players ...

Hypno is probably the best player in the game in terms of raw skill, but his deck is also the worst of any hermit's: it's small and it's loaded with cards like Reckless Charge that push the risks even higher in exchange for potential rewards. That even Hypno can only sometimes make it out of floor 1 at max Clank is intentional, Tango wants you to leave *before* you hit max Clank.

I think reckless charge has a high trade value outside dungeon you should trade one for evasion +sneak or a jump boost one
