Not so much a ghost town, but there is something in the "BoTW /ToTK" lore that's been intriguing me for a while. The Coliseum and the Ancient Pillars. The Coliseum could've arguably been used as a place for entertainment purposes, combat training or even punishment for criminals, but the Ancient Pillars seem to be a truly unique and forgotten area of lore. Who built the pillars? Why were they built? Are they the last remnants of a much larger structure? Was the original structure among the pillars raised into the Sky? Did the original structure fall into the depths? What is the purpose of those ancient pillars? They can't just be decorative or a landmark!

The Akala Underground Fortress, basically everywhere that has Gibdo, Gordonia, and the Hyrulean Prison Ruins. That last one gives me intense curiosity and dread over just how devastatingly destroyed it is, with no sign of prior residents beyond a couple of Rusted weapons. What of the prisoners? Did they escape? Or……

That's the nice thing about Age of Calamity, even if I found going through its story missions to be tedious. We get to see and interact with that world. For my money, though, my main disappointment was the Castle Town not having been restored. I miss it.

One detail not talked about enough imo, and that I find a little disturbing is the realization that every guardian you find out in the wild is responsible for whomever was “exterminated” in its vicinity. So if there’s one nearby a local village in the outskirts of Hyrule, you know everyone there died by It’s hand. Most of those Hylians among others in those villages have been long gone for 100 years now and all that’s left is the shell of those buildings. Meanwhile the sheikah terminator in question is just out there somewhere. wandering on autopilot, scanning for its next target. Destroying it, and the beast who reprogrammed it, is retribution.

What do you think of the developers’ suggestion that Raru/Sonia’s founding of Hyrule was actually a RE-founding of Hyrule? It fixes a lot of the plot holes I think.
@HyruleGamer Жыл бұрын
It's rather interesting

I honestly felt that way, myself. After all, they said that the other games are still considered part of this timeline, but that tens of thousands of years have passed between all the others and _Breath of the Wild._ A lot can happen in that amount of time.....Including the destruction and refounding of a kingdom under different rulers, who may not have known about the previous one. And even if they did, that previous kingdom may have been considered nothing more than myth or legend to them because of how much time had passed, or because some other disaster, courtesy of Demise's curse, fell upon the land, destroying it without leaving a trace.
@iLLiCiT_XL Жыл бұрын
I love Akkala because of the autumnal forest there. I’d actually be totally open to Nintendo making one more game in this particular version of Hyrule, if they made it so that there were more settlements and villages, added variety to the Depths (maybe massive, caved in openings and newly unearthed ruins), and new sky islands. Something that shows how Hyrule moves forward after Ganondorf’s defeat and becomes a true kingdom again.

I very much agree! For me these sort of videos somehow feels the most real for some reason. I cannot pinpoint the sole reason but ruins probably triggers something in our minds, a curiosity and a space for theorising and imagination about who lived there and why it got was left in ruins.
@yingyang8130 Жыл бұрын
@@swordguardia true, whenever you see ruins, in real life, in games, in movies, they have some sort of story to tell. And if that story isn't told in the medium, we end up looking for clues and therorizing. Maybe it's something human to look for the people of the past, how they lived and how they died. it's like it creates a conenction to the present. Whenever I passed ruins in botw I had this melancholic feeling, like there was peace in the world, because nature reclaimed them, even though they were created by tragedy.

Goponga and the other small villages in the Lanayru Wetlands, I feel, probably had lots of Zora living with the Hylians as a chain of fishing villages. With how much water there is, the Zora would be close to the domain and very comfortable. Also, I believe that the settlements on the Great Plateau perhaps belonged to monks or priestesses' of Hylia. I think that the plateau was like a park?) where they lived there and tended to the land and the temple. There would have to be some guards who tended the the heavy gate and patrol the parameter from time to time, but they probably lived in the Gatepost Ruins which is right across the road from the from the entryway.

Considering its design in _Age of Calamity,_ I couldn't help but wonder if Goponga Village was possibly a Zora outpost or secondary village that was built to ease trade between the Hylians and the Zora.....Especially since the owner of the shop there is a Zora. But, that's if you even take the canonicity of that game at face value. Some say yes. Some say no. I know the game was developed by a third party company, but the creators and developers of _Breath of the Wild_ and _Tears of the Kingdom_ did put in their own input, ideas and so-on into the story and over-all design of the levels, including the villages as shown in the game, so there's some significance there....If it is, it's a case of yet another split in the timeline due to the time travel shenanigans. Either way, it's an interesting thing to think about!

Nice to see that you covered Mabe Village, the most underrated ruin, and the one with the worst attack. I still wish that maybe with the recall tears or something we could see small areas of land from the “founding” of Hyrule. Then we could maybe have a better look at some ruins pre-calamity
@michaelkaduck1915 Жыл бұрын
I love the ruins. There is something melancholic about walking through them. Like visiting your old school, or a grandparent's home. You remember things you cannot relive, due to the passage of time, or just other circumstances. I think this is the theme of both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. They're about learning from the past. Link lost so much about his past, and Zelda is sent back into the past, and Ganon, a wound from ages past, seeks to have them suffer just like their ancestors did. But in a world of ruins, life still thrives, with communities being created, new life being made...a metaphor for new life, in spite of death. 🥺🩵

It reminds me of The Wind Waker, which also is set above the ruins of the past. And they all have a beautiful message, especially as I have lost people I love, and the world changes. "This is the only world we have left for you. Please...forgive us." King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule

I'm surprised that you didn't show The Temple of Time pre-Calamity from Age of Calamity. It is pretty interesting. As for Mabe village having different architecture in BotW/TotK compared to Age of Calamity, it is possible that Mabe Village and a lot of other areas in Central Hyrule were re-fortified at some point.

If Nintendo revisits this version of Hyrule in a future title (which I expect), I hope that it's set a few hundred years in the future and that some of these places have been rebuilt, and new places built-up in other areas.

It's likely that they won't revisit it, after tears of the kingdom they plan to move on to other things and didn't want to stretch out this version of hyrule too much, hence why we don't have a DLC for tears of the kingdom

They should continue the time travel theme by having us visit certain parts of the past to affect the outcome of the end game. Like- defeating x dungeon boss means this tribe will be strong enough to assist in future. Rather than having been eradicated. Or helping the cucco lady get her chickens- means she gets a business up n going rather than busting her ankle trying to get them herself... Or, collecting spears and pointy things for this kid to study, means we het another Hoss like character on the field 12yrs later, fighting legions of monsters. Or giving hudson materials to make better tools, means he's got more than just Tarrey Town going.
