Fun fact! "Old Kakariko" in Twilight Princess "mirrors" (ha! I made a pun) Old Kasuto from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. An abandoned, ruined town full of monsters and one old resident. Replaced by a "new version" of the same town a short distance and a cave/tunnel away which requires special means to locate. Both are among the last locations discovered in both games.

An interesting bit of trivia is that Tarrytown, NY, is also the childhood home of Mythbusters cohost, Adam Savage, one of the world's most well-known designers/fabricators/makers. Very fitting for a town that the player plays such a great role in helping to create in BotW, i'd say. (yes, it's a bit of a reach, lol)

3:15: I think the names of »Hudson« and »Tarry Town« are »just« a joke they put in in the English version; but it's a good one (see below). In the Japanese version Hudson is called »Enokida« and TarryTown »Ichikara« Village (which means »from scratch«). The German version stayed on the from-scratch-idea, naming Tarry Town »Taburasa«, based on Latin »tabula rasa«, meaning »erasing the wax tablet«, which is still known in German speaking areas for »beginning new«. The German version name for Hudson is »Dumsda«. His names are more based on the word-plays in the cut scene at the end of the TarryTown-quest, I think.
@duckplushie84216 ай бұрын
In Spanish the town is called Arkadia, and Hudson's name is Karid. The side quest, instead of requiring worker's names to end in -son, requires their names to begin with Ka-. In the Gerudo shelter during TotK the Voe and You class has been moved to a side room underground. Link can participate with the adult class, but if you equip the full Voe set and stand on the empty plinth among the dummies Link can sit in and watch the kids’ class…which is just a little creepy. The girls talk amongst themselves, dropping hints about side quests and, of course, just gossiping while their teacher isn’t paying attention.

I'm sure people have already pointed this out, but Error in Adventure of Link is actually meant to be a joke. His Japanese name is Erā, which translates to Error. Meanwhile, however, another character is named Bagu, which is Japanese for "Bug", as in a software bug. This makes Bagu the mistake, since Error was properly translated to keep the joke, but Bagu wasn't, losing the joke in the translation as a result.

I’m pretty certain that the hat on the goddess statue in Hateno is inspired by the tradition of putting clothing (especially hats) on Jizo statues here in Japan. My local train station has a Jizo statue near it that is always dressed for the weather by the locals. They even put water bottles next to it when it’s hot in the summer. lol There’s a famous traditional story about an old man who gives a Jizo statue his hat that seems to either reflect or to have inspired this tradition if you want to Google it.

I started a new Tears of the Kingdom playthrough recently, and I noticed something that I missed the first time. When exploring the tunnels under the castle with Zelda at the start of the game, an interesting yet crucial detail leaped out at me. I saw that portions of the tunnel were scarred and broken. More importantly, this scarring was directed outwards, as if something had exploded from deep within the tunnel. I wondered for a moment, but then it hit me. This was the damage caused by Calamity Ganon when he burst forth from underneath Hyrule Castle.

For ByGone Town, isnt it explained in-game when you have to go find Illia and the old woman restores your Dominion Rod? She talks about the Sheikah being te Royal Family Protectors and they needed a place to stay that was secret and out of the way but still accessible to the Royal Family. That town is not something that you just stumble upon, in fact, I think your have blow up a boulder to access it or you need the help of goron or something in order to go to the town. That town is deliberately out of the way and there is only one resident but it looks like an old run-down town.

-No one missed Error in Zelda 2. -Gorons don't have male/female distinction which is why they are allowed in Gerudo town. They are just Gorons. They are all "brothers" to each other even though TotK strongly implies they literally pop out of the ground around Death Mountain. -One thing about the Skyloft Knight Academy that I never see anyone mention is the lodging situation: Zelda and Karane share a suite there and have the room split equally using their furniture to create a small gap in the barrier so they can presumably occasionally talk to each other after "lights out" or while getting ready. In contrast, Groose and his gang also share a suite, but Groose has used his furniture to take about 2/3 of the room for himself while forcing Cawlin and Strich to share the remainder of the suite giving them the smallest living area in the academy.

I wish I remembered more of the details, but the I am error guy wasn't a mistake at all, but actually a two part joke in Japanese between two characters that just didn't quite translate right, which is why no one caught it until fairly recently. as for the gorons in gerudo town, I think it comes down to the gerudo not considering them male in the sense that they can't breed with gorons. gorons aren't born or hatched like the other races, they just kinda. bud out of the ground. they likely don't even have "parts" to breed with and never really seem to pair off or have romances (instead treating themselves like one giant family of "brothers", like they're siblings of "mother earth"), and this also explains why they're basically unchanged over the entire timeline. you can't really evolve new traits if there's no traits being passed down a bloodline. the "no voe" rule likely only extends to races the gerudo consider viable partners, and therefor also potential danger to the young vai who aren't yet prepared to interact with voe as mid/post-pubescent vai, who are all kept safe in gerudo town while trained on how to handle men. although why they're not allowed to even interact with their own fathers has some weird implications, but the entire thing around gerudo town and their all female hot warrior race who wear battle bras and heels in the desert and are obsessed with men and hetero romance is just clearly Miyamoto subjecting us to his brown fever fantasies already so it tracks lol
