You should know you can often get better range by using the controller only. These chewp drones seem to use both camera viewing and control on the same frequency so it seems to limit the range if you are connected ti the drine with yiur phone.

I had spoken with the manufacturer after using it. They said it should not have been that bad. And they wanted it sent back for replacement

Ouch. I havent seen a drone operator choose a smartphone to control a drone when it comes wirh a controller that's a new one.
