@@RSBritain There's no such thing as being too paranoid about being under a vehicle. Getting crushed by a vehicle falling off axle stands, ramps or that just weren't supported correctly is one of the more common modes of death for people who work on vehicles. The sill repair on the left is acceptable on a cheap car like this. Almost nobody is going to search for a replacement sill (That's probably only a dealer part, quit expensive if so.) and weld it in properly . It's a 200 pound car. You did well on this one. Swap the alternator (maybe also the belt if it's dry rotten) and have some fun with it!

Great cars those Hyundai coupes, when I picked up my later generation one, these ones were going for around £500, that's a hell of a car for the money with full leather interior and all the other standard features! Mine was an 2002 2.0 had a lovely tilt and slide sunroof lovely seating position, full leather, very comfy seats, really nice to drive. The only issue I had with mine was every bolt or fastener that I tried to undo or remove, would often be siezed or break like it was made of plastic. Had to replace a handbrake cable, retaining bolt snapped, radiator developed a leak, easy to replace, back brakes seized up, easy to clean off, had the rear brake lines replaced for mot, garage quoted me a price without really realising what was involved, the pipes go behind the fuel tank, lots of bends in the pipes etc It took him a few days, he kept to his price but told me it had cost him a lot more in time and labour! And said If I ever needed them doing again don't take it to him lol 😁 D bushes on the anti roll bars needed replacing on the front, cheap and easy fix, made a huge difference in handling and smoothness. Some idiot 'mechanic' stomped on my clutch pedal to get it in reverse when getting my car out of the inspection bay, only went in to do a pre mot inspection on the state of the d bushes, I already knew they needed replacing and had bought new ones. When I got in the car, the clutch pedal was on the floor, no pressure, he had completely wrecked the seals in the clutch slave cylinder, then told me he hadn't done anything and they must have been leaking lol The clutch was fine and I'd never had any fluid leaks at all! The gears were awkward going into reverse sometimes you had to select another gear, 1st then try reverse again, usually it popped straight in! Doughnut lol 🤔🙁 They completely denied any wrong doing and left me with a broken car outside their garage, didn't even make any attempt to put it right or even meet me half way with repair costs. They completely lost ALL my business, and any my family would give them or anyone else I know...... So a new slave cylinder was actually quite cheap, fitting it a doddle as it sits on top of the gearbox just to the side of the engine, from memory I think you have to remove some things from above for access like airbox etc 3 bolts hold it down and guess what 1 snapped despite great efforts to unsieze them and gentley undo them, the bolts are made of a really low quality soft metal alloy or something? Getting the bolt drilled out was a nightmare, eventually left it in and went with 2 bolts, there was just enough of the 3rd bolt left for it to still be used to locate the slave cylinder over it. Nice cars overall, love the styling, I still think they look good and have aged well, still turn heads! 😁😯👍😎 Definitely a future classic 👍😎
