Good analysis. But you should add the difference in maintenance cost, insurance cost and resale value. If we add all these, Diesel makes sense only when monthly drive is 3000 km or more. So go for diesel only if money is not an issue for you and you want to have a fun driving experience or you drive more than 3000 km per month.

Bhai mere pass elite i20 hai.. meri car year me 10k-12k hi chlti hai. Maine same calculation ki thi. But actual mei mileage ka voht difference hai. But maine diesel hi li hai. Punjab mei diesel car ki validity 15years hai. Reason yahi hai extra pickup and mileage. Petrol i20 ki mileage voht kam hai.mere frnd k pass petroli20 hai. Maine highway par with 24kmpl ki mileage bhi nikali hai with average traffic. Vo car 16-18kmpl highway par deti hai. Meri diesel city mei 14-15kmpl uski petrol 8-10kmpl deti hai. Jisko doubt hai shart lga k aa jao.

Petrol is good anytime, Diesel will have more cabin noise and vibration which is irritating, thoda paisa bachane ke chakkar me poora car life time thak aavaz sun ni padegi .Rahi baat pickup and torque ki, that is only useful depending on the traffic in car owner's area. Hamare Bangalore me to cycle wala car se zyada speed me chalaata hai ;-)
