Extracting good mileage from automatic gearbox cars (proper automatics like AT/CVT/DCT, not AMT, I don't even consider shitty AMTs as automatic) is an ART. It takes some driving skills, experience and talent. Any good driver worth his/her salt can extract double digit at least 10-11 kmpl in city and 16+ kmpl on highway from ANY "petrol" automatic car (under 20-25 L, not including higher/luxury segment).

On the contrary, I thought, my take away was a Low Mileage even from an AT perspective, which are known to deliver lesser mileage when compared to a similar spec Petrol power plants

But we must understand, that 4 /5 are automatic transmission, these normally give slightly lower mileage
