I really like the rawness of this car. I've trashed it like a rally car for 10 years and changed just the brakes and battery. Indestructible car i30cw.

I'm planning to buy this, is there enough headroom for tall drivers, I'm 186 cm (6ft 1in)? I'm trying to keep good posture, so I put my butt as much as close to the backrest and straighten up my back. I've driven small company hatchbacks and have never touched the roof.

i also drive an i30 from 2010, i absolutely hate this car. 1.4pb engine is very weak and sounds like vacuum. poor sound isolation. truly uncomfortable suspension. if you really want to buy it, choose only 1.6 crdi, at least then it's reasonably quick

Suspension is terrible on potholes, I agree with you. If you are young/learn to swerve all the bumps like a lunatic, maybe you can get away with it. Otherwise, a really, really nice car for the money and extremely cheap to run. !The Korean assembled ones are way better on paint & interior panel fitting! I am curious if a suspension upgrade on my car (with bilstein shocks for example) would fare any better. The 1.4 is not very weak, 109HP when you are alone in the car is plenty, just learn to rev-match accordingly and do not fear revving it over 4000 if you change oil every 7.500-10.000km. Also extremely safe, believe me I have been in a totally terrifing accident in a 2009 i30 Korean-made at really high speeds and made it without a scratch, thoroughly deserves the 5Stars NCAP! Too bad it didn't have ESP. That's why I went for a 2010 Euro 5 Czech-made fully-loaded after it :) Would've loved to be a Korean again, but it is still a reasonable car. The facelift ones also solved the knocking steering column problem, I'd only recommend now the 109HP E5 2010-11 model, with ESP. Get one from a single-from-new owner that looks like can drive reasonably well (didn't hit every possible pothole with it/had learner kids that used it and put 800.000km worth of usage with bad driving) and you are set for many, many years of problems-free motoring! If reliability & maintenance costs are not a concern, yeah, go for VW Golf 5-6/Astra J (you pick the engine/trim), as they are nicer and better in most of the regards. Or maybe save some more and go for i30 GD :)

Now, after some time, having now a different car (2007 c5 2.0 hdi at, bought in june 2021) and driving hundreds of different cars (because of my work) I would like to rate i30 again. Actually, this car turned out to be pretty enjoyable to drive :D cons: most Hyundais of this era have poor equipment / the noise isolation is really non existent / I still maintain my opinion on suspension: even on 15' wheels, it's very uncomfortable but at least it's stable on bad roads, rear of the car remains perfectly placed on roax when going in turn and driving through manholes, rails and bumps (for example Peugeot 308 t9 is much more comfortable but the rear is very nervous even When you drive on manhole without turning) and I appreciate this in hyundai. Many People Say that rear multi link suspension gives you comfortable ride, but I think that it gives you more control on bad roads. / in terms of engine, it Just drives like ~100hp naturally aspirated small engine. It doesn't have much low-rpm torque, nice sound or great mpg, but When you give it some revs, its acceleration and reaction to gas pedal is acceptable. 1.6 pb is much more better in my opinion and if you have choice, dont hesitate to get the bigger one. Pros: the feeling of steering, operating the pedals and Gear lever is really pleasant, given its Age and budget. Personally, comparing to cars like VW Golf 5, opel Astra h, Astra j, Peugeots, citroens, Renaults of this era, the i30 is much more modern and easy to drive than mentioned above. Really - get some nice leather on Your steering wheel and shift lever, put 16 rims and this car will be really enjoyable, cheap daily driver. You can drive it really smoothy if you learn to operate clutch, it doesn't have weird jerks like opels on lower gears for example. The only non-premium cars that gives me same level of enjoyment are mazdas and fords. / the Look of this car, especially after lifting (with more agressive side skirts and bumpers, bigger grill and front headlamps with dark finish inside) is really nice even today. I can't Hook on interior too, maybe the materials can be "tired" in cars with high mileage, but generally design isn't too boring and Old fashioned. / reliabililty and prices of parts is Good, our i30 didn't break or had any big problems since 2014. If anyone is interested, i can quickly compare it to my current car. C5 with 136hp diesel and 6gear automatic, exclusive trim level. I really like this car - equipment, driving position, noise isolation, suspension Comfort, the engine, gearbox (When I drive 2019 Peugeot 2008 with eat6 and 1.2 130hp, I clearly See this gearbox has literally identical behavior as in my c5 - I know that technically it's same gearbox but after so many years they didn't change almost nothing in electronics, eat8 is noticeably lighter and faster) but When sometimes i get to drive i30 - I feel like THIS is really my choice for quick city drive - it just feels so sharp and light :) I just don't have this feeling when i switch from my c5 to other cars of 1st gen i30 class and era, when I'm in work. The only thing is that there is nothing behind Hyundai brand and design - if you know what I mean :) this car was just made "out of nothing" to appeal to the People and to be cheaper than its rivals. It doesn't have any history or values that you as a person can stick to. You buy it only out of rationality, not because you REALLY like it - you will eventually like it. Motorization, cars is my passion and driving grey i30 on 15 wheels with hubcaps were irritating for me mainly because it was so boring, i couldn't identify myself with this car. After almost 1.5 year with c5 and Daily experiencing hydropneumatic suspension and automatic gearbox i'm already bored with it too, it looks like heavy, sad whale. But with xenons, chroms, nice paint and nice rims it looks acceptable. For and elder. I know most people do not attach importance to cars like I do, and it's of course not bad if you don't - I understand When somebody wants Just pretty cheap, reliable car made just for commuting from A to B. Sorry for making this comment so long, but I wanted to write some things after having contact with hundreds of different cars since original comment. Now I absolutely don't hate i30 :)
