Hyundai i40 1.7 crdi manual gearbox oil change

Ile just mention that when you take the wheel off there's a small plastic cover that needs removing. it's 2 10mm Bolts that's all.
Also I mention the oil is supposed to last a lifetime, it's the lifetime of the car supposedly.

Hi pleased you found the video useful. I was advised to use from a gearbox specialist, to actually use aqf mineral based oil. This might sound silly but just cheap mineral based automatic gearbox oil. I used a brand made by a company called Comma. Not sure if your in the UK but halfords sell this brand. I had an issue with 1st and second gear with selecting when cold. Since putting this oil in there is definitely an improvement and we have cold weather the past few weeks so it's certainly put it to the test.

To be honest hyundai says apparently it should last the lifetime of the car with this particularmodel.. It's obvious to me with the colour of the oil that this is not the case. I'm glad I checked and changed it when I did.

Yes there was an improvement in 1st and second gear.

Hi yes definitely an improvement in gear change especially when cold. I used to have issues with second gear until the engine warmed up. Definitely an improvement. This may sound strange but this was recommended by a gearbox specialist. He said to put auto transmission fluid in and that's actually what I've done. He said to put mineral based aqf fluid in. The brand I used was Comma which can be purchased from Halfords. I can only comment on how mine is and as mentioned, definitely an improvement.

@@shaunsedgwick2060 c Nice one. I must do mine. Mine is a 2016 model. I have 103,000km on the car. I notice it can be a bit notchy when cold in 1st and 2nd alright. Cheers for the reply and great video dude

@Matjaž Založnik well that explains why yours is on the opposite side to mine. Everything should be the same but you will work the opposite side to what mine is.

@@simnovv if it's in the same place as mine, it will be the correct hole. If it looks identical to mine but opposite side on yours, it will be fine. My model is 2012.
