Hyundai is killing the Veloster N but it's still the most fun hot hatch on the market

JUST got a 2022 Veloster N DCT. I was happy to get one before they are offically gone. I drove a 2020 2.0 Veloster automatic for like 3 years and it was my favotire car (essentally a base bare bnes model). I wanted to own one but wanted a higher level trim, got my hands on a N DCT after months of looking and finally brought it home last weekend. So happy to get one before they are all gone!

Anyway, cool car Chandler, thanks for sharing. I am also sad they are retiring this model, the Elantra look doesn't work for me and the Kona is a bit to compromised. Plus the three door design is unique, so I am with you about the Veloster.

I think you still have your stickers over the N logo on the seats? They look more blue tint than white/clear. Could be the lighting in your video but I went months without knowing mine were still on.

It definitely looks like that. I had them in for about a month or two after I got the car. Unfortunately in the video it’s the poor lighting from filming on my iPhone that made the color look weird :/

Hey what's happening I've a 2020 Hyundai veloster turbo r spec I've changed out the Mufflers and exhaust tips and the spoiler it's loud enough for me and it sets off cars alarm lol 👋👍🙂🤣😅🚘

what did you do to get the rims blacked out and where can i get it. I have ultra black so i feel like it would look so good on mine. Oh and that interior carbon fiber trim where did u find the passenger side vents i could only find trims for everything BUT the passenger side

I wrapped the vents myself. Same with the wheels. The carbon vinyl is from tiny bots. 6D carbon vinyl. The wheel vinyl is orafol 651 gloss black from a company called fellers

I have a PB 2021 also..Had it since Jan 2021 and love it!!! I think the EN is butt ugly...Oh well guess it will be a rare car..Only see a VN once in awhile and I live in a large major city.

Car (at least the manual) is a tiny bit underpowered (coming from a 400 HP E90 335I) but it's a blast to drive. I love it and so does everybody who sits in it with me for more than a minute. It's a shame they decided to kill it but I'm also stoked to be 1/5000 (roughly) who managed to get my hands on this car. I've probably seen less than 5 others on the road in all the years it's been out. Nice touch with the carbon fiber trim. Hopefully some of these wings will have a price cut

@Honda Civic23 Way easier to have fun with than the 335 because of the light weight and crazy turn radius you can have a blast at relatively low speeds just slaying curves and corners. VN has a lot more space for hauling too. My tall friends were more comfortable in the back as well. The bimmer always felt like it wanted me to push is faster and was ready with a new problem as soon as I fixed the last one. I still miss those RWD launches, slides and donuts but all round stock vs stock I’d say the veloster N is the better car

In my experience it was great. In the forums there weren’t too many problems either. A few people hit 100k miles with mods and the car was still running good.

How long ago did you delete resonator? The pro is louder pops and bangs, but are there any cons for doing resonator delete?

I did the resonator delete around 7 months ago. I can confidently say there are no cons as long as the shop does it correctly. In normal mode the car is still muffled nicely but in N mode the sound is slightly deeper and louder. Biggest difference is the pops and bangs are a lot better afterwards.

I was reading up on it and it said the res delete causes more fuel consumption, droning sound and effects engine efficiency. Did your car have any of these after the res delete? Also, did it void warranty on exhaust or engine? By the way, I have an Elantra N and was thinking of doing res delete but the stuff I read has me hesitant to do it.

@@delasmoo The res delete would not do anything to the engine. The resonator is completely pass through and only about half a foot long on the Veloster. Not sure about the Elantra N. I know the Kona has 2 resonators. In normal mode the noise is about the same. In N mode it has a deeper tone and more pops. If you get the res cut off like i did it would only void the warranty of your mid pipe and nothing else. The res serves Zero purpose except to make the car a bit more quiet. The only thing that would make the car consume more fuel on our cars after a res delete is stomping on the gas more to hear the exhaust :)

This is actually super upsetting they are getting rid of the Veloster N. This was going to be my potential "potential first" new car I bought. I have been saving for a while to buy one and waiting to get my raises next year. Trying to buy a 2021 or 2022 model even used will be really difficult. May just have to get the Elantra N. Man, so upset now.

I agree! The Veloster N is awesome. I did sit in an Elantra N and it was also very nice but I’ve never driven one. The Kona is also nice and drives great! The Kona is actually faster than the Veloster N.

Why the dct over the 6 speed?

At the time I bought the car I was doing about 80 miles a day round trip for work in a lot of city traffic. For a DCT it is pretty engaging although the MT would have been more engaging.

@@eternallogic6394 in N mode a valve opens making the exhaust completely pass through so it’s very similar to not having a muffler. Plus having oem functionality to quiet the exhaust is very nice at times.
