Have a 2017 Ioniq, which has a recall for this. Called my dealership & provided my VIN. They said there isn’t such recall at this time. Im definitely going somewhere else and getting this checked out.

Thanks very much, great video and explanation. What's even more impressive, done in your second, not native language! I have a Kia Niro and there was a recall or TSB 3 or 4 years ago for this I think, mine was good and I've had no problems.

Thanks Jose ! I have Prius gen 2 from 2004 works well, No issues at all occures in this years. So I'm lucky means. Precharge resistor is a wrong convention naming. That is bring low differential potential to the contactor pins and means NO spark occures. Nothing more fancy. Relay close the circuit in one point connection and contactor in 2 diferent points to reduce with this aproach also the spark ocurence . Timisoara whatcing you.

Great Video, I have a question. I left a 2013 hybrid sonata that came up with a low hybrid battery message sitting for 2 years , the orange Switch fuse is ok. soI suspect the power relay. Question: Do you think the hybrid battery is shot sitting that long? Thank you!

Only time will tell, I say if yours not in the recall then just drive it. If you are weekend mechanic it is not that hard to open your vehicle (though a bit annoying to open it) to check to see if your PRA shows signs of melting!

2020 hyundai iqonic replaced hybrid and 12v battery with a good used one. Still have no start. Battery light on and start engine to avoid battery discharge. I put a booster/charger still nothing, help please 😅

Very helpful but I have a question I have a sonata that I want to test my relay so by pressing the brake pedal and push the start button there is clicking behind the rear seat that tells me that computer sends signal to relay is making contact and the ev/ready light comes on meaning the voltage signal passing through relay is good to go and that pretty much complete a good relay test, is that accurate? And if not is there a way to test those 2 relays inside the assembly box ? Also someone mentioned that when replacing the relay assembly the car needs to be programmed because the check engine light won’t go off by itself, is that accurate. ? Or after a cycle drive will go out by itself? Thanks in advance Guillermo Front Mexico now on US

Starting the vehicles you will hear the relays in the back… and once replacing there is no need for reprogram nothing… just plug and play

Great video. I have question, Is the recall power relay assembly look the same from the defect one? The reason I asked is because when I look up spare parts for this particular PRA for Hyundai Ioniq hybrid, there are 3 models out there, one look exactly the same which is PRA G2100 like in the vid (it is called PRA EV1? with prod date 2016 to 2018?) one is PRA G2510 EV2 with prod date 2016 to 2019 that look a bit different but it says should fit with Hyundai ioniq hybrid, and lastly there is PRA G2110 with prod date 2018 to 2019, which is also has EV1 marking. My guts is PRA G2510 is the way to go but thought I should ask the expert's opinion first. Which one do you recommend of getting for durability purposes?

Technically you can, the issue is can you charge it in a way that it is safe for the batt and for you so it doesn't explode? You won't be here asking that question if you confidently can answer that safety concern!
