Also check if child lock is on. We "repaired" our 2007 Santa Fe rear door. Right after we removed the panel, we saw that child lock was on. -_-

Could be. My 91 Toyota Camry's door latches are set up the same way. Make changing broken handles out real easy.

My door lock is sporadically functioning I think it might have popped out. The last time I used the door lock on the door I heard a funny snapping type noise I hope that was the cable hitting the metal inside the door. I will take the door off and check for sure. It is possible the cables need some type of lubrication or it might just happen randomly.

Makes it easy if the door can be opened from the outside. But when it won’t open from the inside or outside it’s a big problem

My problem probably related to the blue plastic cable holder on top of the pink one... the locking mechanism... Is very tight in open position on the door and refuses to budge. Key does not work in the lock to turn it and lock the door, nor manually pressing on it. It has a few mm of give but refuses to go all the way,,, if i forced it, something would break. Is this a cable problem???

codi tower I'm going though the same problem. the only thing I can think of ,in your case not spending money, is soldering the broken latch cable together, thing is, I don't think the solder will hold due to the constant tension when opening the door over and over again.

great but if the metal piece where the retainer is broken and the front knob is broken how can it be fixed to open the door. this happened to my wife's Hyundai accent, how can I open the door if both handles r broken. need help please.

Luis Rivera same on mine. it had snapped at the very end so cut about 3 inches off the plastic sleeve. this exposes the cable. I bought a cycle brake cable for a pound which has the little square "ball" on it. cut the brake cable to size, used a little clamp to join them.

You'll have to look where the screws are for the exterior door handle, and drill them out. That way you can take the door handle out and get access to open the door. Note: New door handle will be needed. About 20 bucks on Ebay. I had to do that lol
