You also need to be aware that these engines are known to scoring the cylinder walls and create a very similar sound to valve train tick. There has been many lawsuits in north america due to this issue so make sure you check the cylinders with a borescope before disassembling the for a timing chain concern. I was a Hyundai tech for three and half years and replaced many of this engine due to scored cylinders. Hyundai and Kia have extended warranty and will replace the engine.

Mine rattles, but only on the first cold start. If I turn it off, and turn it on again, it makes not even a bit of noise

Wrong. Most cold start rattling in these garbage Hyundai engines are related to the cam phasers. They are poorly designed on these engines and they aren’t being lubricated on cold start due to clogged oil passages or general wear and tear. You have to do a complete valve job and replace them with the new updated part numbers from Hyundai. Most of the time the chain tensioners and chain are in normal working condition after inspection.
