Thank you very much for this advice and easy to video. Video is wonderfully detailed and helpful. My gas button in my Hyundai Sonata hasn’t worked since three months after I brought it brand new at the dealer and silly me thought it would resolve itself and of course never did and then too afraid of the cost to get it fixed so never did. This is so helpful that I’m looking forward to getting it working on my Hyundai Sonata 2009 with 189000 miles (northeast New York). Edit, got the part and followed the instructions. The only hard part was the first screw cover that flung into my garden never to be found again. Be sure to hold your hand over the screw covers to catch them! Took me about 30mins with getting all the tools, placing a small bench to catch the door with and cleaning the door handle along the way.

Thank you for the good video. Before you order a replacement switch online make sure there is an accurate picture of the part. I have a 2008 and the switch has a rounded top like yours. But a part listed as compatible on eBay actually has a triangular top and won’t fit. It seems like the part was changed halfway through the model year, so examine the pictures closely before ordering.

Hell no! I'll just continue to use the gas cover release tag located in the trunk... until the TRUNK release button goes.

I’m amazed how many times I have popped the trunk for the gas attendant (I’m in Oregon, we don’t pump our own gas) and they say “you opened your trunk, not your gas door.” I say right back, while getting out of the car “yep, I have to open it from the trunk. My button doesn’t work.” The amount of people that never knew a manual override existed in the trunk, and their shouts of surprise and awe…😂 priceless.
