Injector seal replacement on an Hyundai Terracan isn't as hard as you may think, fortunately we didn't need new injectors.

Judder over 2700 rpm. Plus heavy diesel smell under bonnet. Engine light came on over 2700rpm too. Went off when turned off and on again. Sorry for delay in reply, been working haha.

I found you again! Copper injector seals for a TERRACAN. I believe their 2.4 model H1 had serious problems with seals.

Turns out no. I've sold the car to a neighbour and he replace injector 4. Couldn't figure out how to recode it. Started the car and it runs fine. No excess smoke or weird noises. He tows his caravan with it, fully loaded as well.

God knows. Doubt it, although companies do buy in from independent manufactures for some generic components so maybe.

Out of curiosity. What are they rated to tow? I was only slightly a little bit over my permissible authorised mass on Saturday when the trailer was loaded. The van managed alright but can only legally tow 1.2t

@@wearinbearins589 how far is Ipswich lol I am heading to Ipswich and into Battersea again on Friday driving a Mitsubishi Fuso Canter 10 tonner. Didn't think there was a 10 ton Canter. Also, I can't remember seeing the black cat roundabout the other day. Is it the one outside Sainsbury's in Biggleswade? I pulled into there so my son can have a piss but big queue and he refused to just piss on a wheel so he held on to Baldock. The A14 has been moved. It was the first time I been on it since last year. It seems to cope much better although it would have been around 10.30pm when I was on it. I used to have reference points such as the bus depot and a train station and the little bridge in Huntington.

Thanks again. Do you think it's pure chance on injection failures?. Is there a better chance by filling with "top" diesel only?. Mines at 130k (Kms), fresh oil and filter regularly, top diesel fuel used. Cambelt changed at 90kms (before my accident) lately changed out the dual clutch and flywheel for a single mass flywheel as the original lot failed. It was predictable. So I was prepared. Took me a while to do on the front path. Nowadays, it's slightly rougher or chunkier on changing gears but it'll last the life of the vehicle. I intend keeping the car bar rust( right now I'm changing the windshield cleaner motors for the second time...what is it with Hyundai washer motors?). At 180k Kms I'll change the cambelt, if I can. Water pump too, plus tensioners. I know of no one out there with diesel terracan high mileages, thus I'm not sure how injectors hold up. The engine was an Italian design 'Moto Morini' (or similar name). They designed many diesel engines. Hyundai paid patents and altered bits and pieces to suit them to make their 2.9. The engine goes right across their Hyundai/Kia 2000s range from trucks to cars, people carriers and 4x4s. Thank you again. Any advice.

The copper seals can fail if you drive it hard. That was my whoopsie. I may or may not have "raced" it a little one day. That resulted in the pressure build up knackering the seals. Mine is an automatic so I have zero flywheel issues on that front. Funny you mention the windshield motor. My wiper motor is failing as well. Finding the right, reliable, part is a pain in the rear end. My biggest issue at present is the throttle pedal sends the wrong singal every so often. Supposedly a common problem. You'll be trundling along and then nothing. Sod all. Have to release the pedal and push again and it's fine. It once accelerated on the brake pedal too hahaha. I plonk any diesel in mine, don't seem to matter. I know the pre2004 facelifts had issues with the injector pump failing internally. Sending bits of metal through the injectors which ends the life of those. Only cure for that is a modern injector pump. Obviously new or recon injectors if the issue has happened.

@@wearinbearins589 Thank you!. I'm just going outside to remove the windscreen washer container (wheel off etc). I've 2 motors, front +rear to replace. Bought OEM and generic so let's see which lasts longest.

@@wearinbearins589 I'm in the kitchen now. The generic connectors are not the same as OEM. Also Hyundai, in their wisdom, decided to make the front and rear washer motor connectors completely different.

@@homerfj1100 hahaha, sounds about right. I know that the Terracan was produced until 2016(ish) for the Australian and Chinese markets. If I'm not mistaken both those countries drive the same side as we do, so parts from abroad could be a potential if all else fails.
