The O in the Ori title is something called an Ensō, which is a Zen Buddhist symbol. Aspiring monks will draw circles on sheets of paper. The act of drawing the circle can show inner turmoil, and state of being at the time. This is to teach a lesson about life, death and rebirth. The end of one cycle beginning another.

My personal favourite parts from this fantastic soundtrack: 13:23 18:10 to 18:32 19:35 23:32 31:07 35:18 40:47 (I love how this whole Kwolok leitmotiv went from deep bassoon to choir to high strings later on) 1:00:01 1:02:20 onward (upflifting melodic progression, soflty climbing upward, and I find those sort of "bells" quite chilling) 1:05:29 (basically Main Theme without the singing) 1:09:42 1:13:10 and 1:14:40 (these voices...) 1:18:11 to 1:19:00 1:21:26 to the end (beautifully eerie) 1:27:46 (the second part of Mora's boss theme really shines) 1:31:40 (could be one of my favourite songs) 1:35:40 (this song really encapsulates the mood of the area) 1:41:27 1:42:30 1:45:44 to 1:46:21 1:47:17 (this somehow reminds me of City of Tears from Hollow Knight) 1:47:53 2:01:47 to the end 2:05:51 2:22:10 2:23:07 (the chills !) 2:25:52 2:27:58 2:33:13 2:46:22 2:49:15 (+ 2:53:37 when it blends epically with Ori's own leitmotiv) 2:59:58 and 3:01:10 (now that's a sweet way to end the score) Thanks for the likes and for taking a look ! @@Norseman4 I used to think while playing the first half of the game that the new soundtrack was less striking than the blind forest's. I think I will enjoy the will of the wisps' ost more than the blind forest's as time goes by. And I think I already do.

16:31 This is without a doubt the new gold standard song for the return of Ori. Flashbacks to the first moments in the blind forest, climbing the cavern walls. Nothing will ever beat the rush of the ginso tree escape, but this is pure happiness in a song and the epitome of nostalgia.
@joshuacruz54364 жыл бұрын
Oh my god, right? The way the Spirit Cavern is composed makes me so, so happy. I remember I was just getting the climbing and jumping figured out, and it was so much fun, and I noticed the woodwinds started playing in a way that could only be described as playful... the music anticipated the actions in the game, my mood, the whole experience. It didn't set the mood by any means, but it augmented it in a way that I don't think any game ever has (probably ever will). Every time I hear the Up the Spirit Cavern Walls, it makes me smile because it recreates the experience just a little bit, when everything came together in this perfect aesthetic harmony. Playful. It was playful. And maybe the most brilliant part about this music: I'll bet you know exactly what part in the music I'm referring to!

Ash and bone may genuinely be the most emotional track I've ever heard in a video game, or any work of art in general. For me, it represents the pain that Shriek has gone through and her hopeless past. Her species is basically extinct and the only place she can call home is a decaying forest drenched in darkness and filled largely with only the bones of what was once thriving life. When she finally found the last remnants of her kind, she was instantly neglected for being different. She never knew anything except bitterness and sorrow. Moon Studios did such an outstanding job with making you sympathize deeply with Shriek and her tragic story.

But with the song, they're absolutely terrifying. I love "The Darkness Lifted" because it has the same melody but a lighter tone. This is definitely one of my favourite game soundtracks. It's rather soft, consistent, very emotional, thematic, immersive, but without being overly dramatic. Absolutely high quality. Much of it is actual classical composition in a sense (more than certain other game soundtracks) and it fits the story of the Ori games extremely well. A few parts of it also remind me of the soundtrack for A Beautiful Mind - emotional, sostenuto, conceptual, and very memorable.

One of the best video game OST's of all time, and when paired with the game itself they both become greater than the sum of their parts. Ori and the Will of the Wisps is quite honestly on my top 5 best games of all time list. It's close to perfect.

The music makes a game 100 times better , this is one of the best game music ever made, it really gives you emotions playing the game , you can really feel the game, its more alive . Its like you are a part of the game , also one of my favorite games ever played 9:12 min where you can really feel the game

This studio has truly succeeded in making a game and soundtrack that defies all modern principles for video games. This is truly a masterpiece. I am lost for words but just know, to those of you who havent played this yet, this is what Video game companies should be modeling themselves after. Moon Studios has gone above and beyond (Is there an expression that goes above this?) in terms of game design, testing and my god, the soundtrack. This is officially in my top 10 games of all time. Thats no easy feat!

23:30 I remember the first time hearing this song kick in and being totally immersed at how haunting and beautiful it was mixed with what I was seeing on screen. This soundtrack blows me away. If they don't win an award for the music it will be a travesty.

I am amazed by this soundtrack. Gareth Cocker did a great job creating this piece of art. There are more references to Ori and the Blind Forest than in 'Ori embracing the light', like in 'We named her Ku' the beginning is similar to 'Inspiration' or at the end of 'The Ancient Wellspring' you can hear part of 'Riding the Wind'. Those are really small details which are barely hearable. I would even say that they make a background for violins, trumpets or chores. I really recommend listening to it one more time and trying to hear as many references as it is possible!
@WormyMaster3 жыл бұрын
The strongest reference I felt was just a few seconds in 'Ori embracing the light' when you could hear the start of the climax of 'Inspiriting' from the first game.

For more info on these musical references, also called leitmotifs, Sideways talks a lot about this on his channel. I think learning to hear these in other kinds of music helps in catching them all in the music you like.

"Kwolok's Throne Room" (40:47) has to be my favorite of the new songs. It captures something almost inexpressible and truly unique - a blend of solemnity, wonder, grandeur, and gentleness. One of those songs that you don't expect to bring tears to your eyes until they're already flowing down your cheeks. As for the reprises, my favorite is "Silent Woodlands" (1:00:52), which reprises the end of "The Blinded Forest" from the first game. It's heartbreakingly lovely, even more so than the original.

ikr I got my Switch not long ago and this game was the first game I got. I had a bad thought spending 35€ on this game since it's only Singleplayer but once I started and even finished the game, it was worth all the money. I never cried inside because of a game for so long, this game has one of the saddest stories I know. Especially the OST of Ori is an Emotional Masterpiece
@johngibernalti99593 жыл бұрын
