The Capital Beltway is one of the world's busiest complete beltways. Why not compare it with Atlanta's I-285 GA, Indianapolis's I-465, Charlotte's I-485, Cincinatti's I-275 KY-IN-OH, Columbus's I-270 OH, Twin Cities' I-494 and I-694 forming one beltway, Houston's I-610 TX and TX Beltway 8, San Antonio's I-410 and TX Beltway 1604, Moscow's Ring Roads, Madrid's M-40 and M-30, London's M25, Paris's Boulevard Périphérique, Amsterdam's A10 and which other complete beltways I'm looking for?

Truly one of the world’s scariest routes. Seven years in Alexandria and I still have flashbacks.

Average speed 78 mph? Whoa! And regarding adding a third lane to the express lanes "should the need arise"...you mean it hasn't arisen yet?? LOL

If you want to go to the MGM National Harbor and for some reason end up in the thru lanes of the outer loop of the beltway, you can always use the MD 210 exit to access the MGM without requiring the use of the local lanes. The National Harbor from the thru lanes of the capital beltway outer loop can be accessed similarly.

Because I live *south* of Oxon Hill, I have *never* traveled the Express Lanes in the southbound direction - always in the northbound direction (because that is when I typically use them - rush hour from Oxon Hill toward VA 7).

I wish I made a road video near DC, this video feels relaxing to watch. I subscribed to your channel too, very impressive, Rahul!

True - it would have followed the Capital Intertie (Pepco's power lines - which *did* get built) from RFK Stadium to College Park (where the southern end of I-95 leaves the Beltway).

Nice view of the pitchfork near I-66 and US 50. That was an everyday sight that I oddly became fond of...I think it's operated by VDOT.

Hopefully Maryland eventually builds a set of HOT lanes at least on their portion of the beltway; can imagine the transition first thing past the state line being nothing short of NASTY... On the flipside, is it a bad thing at all if I think the way they configured some of the on/offramps to/from the express lanes was POORLY executed? Either side of the lanes rather than one?! Granted $$$ was probably limited, but my philosophy is kinda build it right from scratch or get STRAIGHT back to the drawing board. A couple shitty transitions or badly designed ramps can turn much of the region into a parking lot regardless on how much lane capacity the system has IMO...

Outstanding work from the soundtrack (you're welcome), to the effects, the pacing and I like what you did at the break setting the table for the Springfield Interchange. Big thumbs up!

I had just gotten my license in the mid 1970s when the Beltway underwent it's first phase of expansion ( the second being the EZ pass lanes and the Sprngfld Interchance. It wasn't any fun driving it back then. If you are interested, go way back in my collection to see EZ pass construction from the early part of this decade. The videos are not great but they are a record of what took place.
