I-74 River Bridge - 2019 Construction & Traffic Impacts

2019 is an important year for construction of the new I-74 River Bridge in the Quad Cities. Beginning March 18, 2019 all Iowa-bound interstate through-traffic will be detoured to I-80 and I-280. Local traffic will still be able to get to downtown Moline and Bettendorf but motorists will be routed off of I-74 onto local roads.

Can someone explain why the Iowa-bound side is reduced to 1 lane?

The Iowa-bound bridge will be reduced to one lane because motorists must exit at Grant Street/U.S. 67 in Bettendorf. Motorists must exit there because we are removing the viaduct in Bettendorf and expanding Iowa-bound I-74 to three lanes from the river bridge to Middle Road.
