I never said I'll NEVER go through or film New Haven. Hey if you want to see New Haven so bad, pay my way and I'll go film it. What's disappointing is to have people complaining about something that they don't have to pay a single cent to watch or enjoy. You think these trips are cheap?
@thetree64812 жыл бұрын
I totally agree, you do these for the viewers having to pay tolls (especially nj turnpike, mass pike, Florida tolls, etc) and still some are haters that complain about your content , people needs give you a break fr

Hallelujah! The Great Northern Forest Combined with the quality AND the fact that it was 2012 when you recorded this and the skyline, the highway is clean and everything else is AWESOME! Hope you make new uploads soon… edit: also I have to say, the new construction is so modern it’s ruining the beauty! The signs were diverse and now everything is medal! Hope they fix everything their doing wrong

The gap between the freeway lanes and the HOV lane is huge! I also noticed that this stretch of I-84 had quite a few left exits. Very nice stretch of freeway. I'm still astounded by the great weather you got on this trip. You really got lucky with all the beautiful sunny days for filming. Thanks for sharing!

lol, I was waiting to see you finally use this song in a video; good choice. Thanks for the mention, too. Perhaps we should link each other's videos, because of the song choice. Anyway, I would've never known about this freeway, had you not given me the personal recommendation, a few years back. It's definitely the baddest stretch of freeway in New England; you just don't see a ROW for nearly 30 (theoretical) lanes in that part of the country, with this being the bold exception.

You've probably herd this a lot from me but I STILL can't get over how green everything is in that section of the U.S.! Great video Jim! Really enjoyed the music.
@denniswhite44462 жыл бұрын
That green is the Great Northern Forest you speak of. Been so broken up by mankind at this point that we may not recognize it as "a thing" so readily, but if given any chance it starts moving right back in to any place it was cut away. Was and is one of the natural wonders of the world.

If you're ever out here in the northwest, check out I-84's western cousin in Oregon. My #1 favorite road to drive (the views along the Columbia are breathtaking and it gets even better in the Blue Mountains...Emigrant Ridge along 84 has a westward view where you can see for miles!)

Hands down best view: Rte 2 coming in from Glastonbury. There's a point starting around Glastonbury/East Hartford where the whole city and hills are pretty breathtaking. That view made me become fascinated with city skylines, from a little kid to this day.

Where you start is actually at Mile 49, not 45. Also, the 50 MPH zone at the beginning was recently raised to 55 MPH, and the 55 MPH zone east of Route 72 is now 65 MPH until just east of the Route 9 interchange.

Loving the New England tour! Some of those Connecticut expressways leave a lot to be desired IMHO, but props to them on HOV lanes and exits (although they could've fit another lane in between or something. And obviously great vid! You never fail to surprise!
@youtubechangedmyname6 жыл бұрын
As a CT resident and native , I hate 84 . Even with 6 lanes it always has traffic and too many State Troopers sitting waiting to pull everyone over. 91 North of Hartford thru Windsor is my favorite stretch of highway in CT although traffic is still a problem at rush hour.
@jdanon2035 жыл бұрын
Wow you have state troopers pulling people over on 84? There are rarely troopers on 95; figured it was the same everywhere.

Also, you never answered MY question, what is so great about New Haven as opposed to the other roads I filmed? I may very well film it someday, I think I have CT-8 North and I-84 east covered. I never said I never would, I just don't enjoy I-95 from NY to New Haven and would much rather take the route I took. It might be another 2-3 years until I'm back that way, so who knows, if the weather and lighting are good, I may just film it. I don't mind you asking, you didn't ASK, you assumed.

@richellebrittain21274 жыл бұрын
I believe it's the second oldest, and the oldest carrying both sides of an interstate. The EB Kansas-side lanes of the I-70 crossing between the two Kansas Cities is a year older; it was originally called the Intercity Viaduct but is now also known as the Lewis & Clark Viaduct, the name first given to the WB structure originally built in 1962. (Ironically, it's the 1962 side that is currently being replaced by KDOT; the 1907 side is still structurally sound. MoDOT rebuilt its end of the viaduct in both directions some years ago.)

Great video...but what is it with Connecticut's highway designer and left exits, if I may ask?
@Freewayjim6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, IDK, you'll have to ask those who designed it, it must have seemed efficient at the time, and I'm sure they did not project for the traffic volumes those roads now serve.

Get a grip! I'm not hostile, violent or even mad. You used the words "hate" and "disappointed", not me. I don't head up that way all the time, just three times in the last five years. One time passing through New Haven the light was bad, another it was raining, this trip I chose to film other roads that I felt are more interesting. Curious means you ask me why I did not film New Haven, not make statements using words I never used, please learn the difference.

Living in Ansonia I like the CT 8 North to Waterbury video - and this one, our kids at U of Hartford I take 84 East to Park Road left exit 43. The fastest ride through here is on an early Sunday afternoon...no doubt that this state loves left hand entrances and exits...I-291 West Manchester to Bloomfield is the only part of the original I-291 that was actually built - opened 1993-94 IIRC
