Again, Mike, you lucked out with Fantastic Weather!! The “view point” pull off at 2:20 is where a British ship, HMS Chatham, sent to explore the Columbia River landed and “claimed” the land for Britain in 1792, named it Point Vancouver and also named Mt Hood! 3:50, Frantz truck coming from their bakery in Spokane. 13:30, the exit to I-205 SB dives into a tunnel and makes a sharp left turn; really tricky. 15:30, Like how the Commuter Rail tracks are near 84 in Portland. 16:30, I’ve been through there for morning rush hour and traffic really slows; even you hit traffic after the sun’s been up for a while! Don’t know how the locals handle it! 18:20, have taken “exit 2” several times; empties right into residential neighborhoods. Last thought: God Bless Troutdale!! Thanks!!

I know of Portland, Oregon obviously but I never gave a thought how it looks to drive through it. Idk if I’d would ever get the chance. This helps me appreciate the way other people live.

Little bit windy out there today; noting the whitecaps on the Columbia River. Oregon did manage to fit in I-84 rather nicely; even the interchange at I-5 is high and compact. There's not a lot of flat ground out there. Welcome to the West Coast. US 30 stays on the Oregon side of the rivers, using I-5 and 405 and exiting at St. Helen's Rd, going north along the rivers, then turning west and heading for it's terminus at US 101 in Astoria.

Thank for for this video Mike. Never seen Portland before but is apparent they suffer from several abrupt bottlenecks, like many of our eastern cities as well.

Grabbing my old maps, this is one of the oldest interstates in Oregon. Originally I-80N, it was built in the late 1950's, intersecting with US 99/I-5 right where it does now, and I-5 had been upgraded along US 99 south to near US 20.
