Bringing 4 lanes per bound on Interstate 95 in the greater Fayetteville area along with Interstate 295 to serve greater Cumberland County are totally great ideas!! More people use and need these highways and routes to transport people and things more than every before!! North Carolina is doing amazing things with Interstate Highway growths and expansions!! Keep it all up NC!!!!

It is because I-95 does not have a US highway companion to take up any of the slack in this part of North Carolina - unlike in South Carolina, where the companion is US 17 - or even Virginia - where it is US 1 or 301 or even both (between Fredericksburg and Richmond, there is a stretch where the two US highways share pavement in Chesterfield and Henrico counties). (Speaking of US 1, it's off to the west - chasing Interstate 85 through the Carolinas.)

they finally finished the 95 expansion around Fayetteville (and that was only needed because the locals started to use 95 as main street) and still you got people racing each other 100 MPH. What Fayetteville needed was a couple of bypass roads, not a 95 expansion. Get them off 95, not funnel them into it.

This is a rare stretch of Interstate 95 that is not shared with a US highway - not even US 17 (which I-95 gains south of here) let alone US 1 OR US 301 (which it pairs with for most of it's length).
