I love this watch. I get my text and email notifications on it for way cheaper than an apple watch. Cant reply to anything but getting them on the wrist is nice. And i use the health features too when i ride my bike. So i have this one for noti’s and health stuff, and i have another gshock for weather related stuff.

G-Shock is an iconic watch. And because of all that smartwatch trends they have to keep up because apparently people cannot go through the day without knowing their steps, how fast their heart beats or to see 2 sec faster who sent them a message. But still this is not a typical smartwatch. It’s still an icon and very good looking one 😊. Good catch

You can turn the smart features off easily. Nice colourway. The display is fantastic.

You can only adjust the seconds with the phone app. Luckily it's so accurate, you can probably avoid using the app except for once or twice a year.

I have a GBD-200, but I would consider selling it for a GBD-100 since it looks so much cooler (esp in black & blue). The display looks similar (if not identical), same for the features, and of course for what I'd use, if I want to track my cycling I'll use my Garmin instead. But this GBD-100, it's like a fitness version of a Rangeman - very cool!

I bought this a week ago. Not really bought for the smart features . The strap is more comfortable than my other G-Shocks.Strap is also slightly thinner. Decent watch.

Well it sells like a fitness watch however one thing i noticed is that the stopwatch doesnt show split seconds 😑 there is something or other missing on the watch

yeah definitely not for everyone. but that model seems to be pretty popular on some areas. i prefer the square MIP models though if i wanted a smart g-shock.

Smart watches have their place which for me is the bottom drawer of my desk or back of the cupboard when the battery dies or they stop functioning for no good reason. I’m guessing it will be a temporary relationship at best. Now get back on the horse and order the new Seestern sub 300 version 2. It’s a watch you’ll want to look at and it doesn’t beep at you or need you to push buttons to know the time.

I’m not a watch guy but I am a g-shock guy. I have 3 with live batteries and more than 10 if you count what’s tucked away dead in my closet and attic. I got the Apple Watch and hated it, went back to my g-shock. I did like being able to look at my wrist to see who’s calling my phone though. So I’ve been hunting a g-shock that pairs with my iPhone….it’s not easy. They have a ton of watches that pair with a phone but as far as I can see only a couple of watches under $400 that actually give notifications. Pretty frustrating.

This one gives notifications. The smart watch life just isn't for me, I need that disconnect from my phone every now and then. I can however see why these are so popular

Lol. Actually I won't laugh as I use a Samsung Watch Active 2 smartwatch on the rowing machine. But then it's straight back to a normal watch. If you don't have it already can I suggest checking out the GG-1000 Mudmaster G-Shock, for around 250 to 350 usd depending on where you go. It's a beast, some good additional functions like compass and temperature, and the usual world time, stop watch, etc, 200m water resistance and mud proof! I use it trekking and it's great. Doesn't have Bluetooth, the GWG has that, but at 3 times the price and unnecessary to be honest. Still that is brilliant value for 70 quid and great if you use it!

Funny Casio seems to be the only brand that can consistently walk that line between 'smart watch' and 'watch collectors' ... without getting pushback and flack. This may however be too far. To me when any watch gets into this much technology and complications then it gets less fun and more frustrating to use for me. I agree that the perfect G-shock is the 5600 ... granted for outdoor hiking and camping I have a Protrek with triple sensor (compass, thermometer and barometer). Now I get that it is a personal choice/ opinion and that this is very functional for runners and fitness people so it definitely serves a function ... but again as a pure watch enthusiast it is a 'bridge to far'.

I bought this watch on 2021 not even 6 month the watch completely stop working. I I brought the watch to GSHOck SOHO for repair. they definitely take care of the watch I did not pay nothing . the watch still under warranty .after after reparation about 4 or 5 months later the watch stop working t again his time due to the battery. the watch is pretty decent watch. I was expecting something with a longer longevity. I bought the at 160 dollars unfortunately I wouldn't recommend anyone for this particular model.

Cracking review as always Jason. You’ll have to give us a look at the rest of your Casios and G Shocks. I keep looking at the GBD-200 which seems like it’s got the same/similar module to your GBD-100 but in a kind of updated/modernised take on the classic G Shock Square case. But then I realised it was basically a smart watch 😧 I’m never going to use half the features in it but I kind of still want one! You got a bargain with this one at £70! Looking forward to seeing the next chapter in the Rolex series too!

Have a look at the GG-1000 Mudmaster Gareth, a total beast of a watch with compass and temperature reading, great for trekking and adventure sports but no Bluetooth! It's a very striking watch, you get a lot of double takes when people see it. It's fantastic and not hugely priced. I have the GG-1000-1A3DR model myself and one of my favourites, probably wear it more than any of my other watches. 👍

I say it is not a smartwatch. but just a moden gshock watch. it is a watch with some added feature. not a fitness wearable that has a watch. and yes I really hate the trend of the smart watch. a watch is suppose to tell you time and should be something that you don't charge everyday. and I guess casio is doing the right path here.
