I was a truck driver. Came in off the road. Wanted to relax. Backed my pick up into the back yard to hook up the boat. It was gone.Wife sold it. Said it sits for a month at a time. Told her So do you! Got rid of the wife and got a new boat.! Living happily ever after !!!

You did an amazing job. I have been building boats for the last 3 years and have always been around boats and fishing since I was 5. I can relate with you on a lot of this. Built 4 boats already. However be careful because it's addicting and frustrating... A year ago I gave up at one point and found myself at Cabela's dropping 30k on a bass boat... Amen to the wives that let us do these things. We own 5 boats and I want more LOL

Very much enjoyed your video " DIY Jon Boat to Bass Boat Conversion". Great information and appreciate you sharing the info with the fishing community. I am a recent retiree and live in a retirement community that has several lakes that are limited to boat size and less than 10 HP gasoline motor. Although, I know I will never compete with the professionals, this type fishing is something I can do and enjoy for many years. Keep up the good broadcasting, we appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us. I have every confidence that you will indeed make your goal of 1,000 happy subscribers very soon. Good luck and good fishing!

Really nice looking finished project! I’m curious how much weight all the wood added. I noticed someone asked how much lower it sits in the water. When my father and I converted a 16-foot SeaArk tunnel hull jon boat, we used heavy-gauge aluminum (welded) for the front and rear decks and the floor. And instead of carpet used marine vinyl flooring. Set up was slightly different with a side console for running and just two high-back removable seats for fishing. (one front with trolling motor and one on back deck) But with an older 2-stroke 70 hp motor, could run inshore on a plane with half a crab trap showing. Man I miss that boat!

Making Baits has kept me so busy it's hard to find the time needed to just GO FISHING. Man your making think way to hard. I'm trying to figure out why I haven't done it yet. But I will get it out and do a video and if your wondering I did do a stability test and Motor check to see how it would do on the water and I was crazy happy. Thanks for the comment.

I had bought a 14/36 rigging for hunting. I had problems with long tail motors I was using and ended up with my 3rd one. To large for the boat! I ended up flipping and lost several hundred $$$ worth of gear. Well got a larger boat for long tail. Now hunting is closed so back to fishing, trying to rig my yak... Well I have this 14/36 and a 2.5 motor. It will work BUTTTT so boaring to put put with it. I found a new non current 8 HP motor and am working on getting it rigged. I have new trolling motor coming. Bimini top coming, working on deck and such so any help I would like. Your video was some help.

How much did it cost to build all of it, besides the jon boat and trailer. I have a boat I’ll be getting in a few months. It’s aluminum flat bottom 14 ft. Comes with trailer but it all needs some tlc. Which is fine, I’m just extremely interested in your build. Would you consider doing the build for me if not just please give me a ballpark number so I know what to save for

Man you are the 3rd person to ask the question " Hey will you build my Boat" I spent about $1100 between Wood, Carpet, Hardware, Seats, Paint, Wiring, Cup holders, Rod holders, another $1100 on a 15hp Motor upgrade from the original 9hp I had on it. Then $500 on the trolling motor and $300 on the Depth Finder I would say it's all a good guess. Hope this helps and feel free to email me at take2fishing@gmail.com if I can help anymore.

Thank you for sharing this video. You have helped me tremendously with my own build plans. A few questions: Can you please tell me where you decided to put the batteries and why? Font /Back / middle? Are you happy with the accessibility of them?
@take2fishing
@take2fishing 4 жыл бұрын
jacob32 Dang great question. So if you noticed I have a 15hp on the back and 2 Seats. If 2 of us are at the back moving around on the water sitting in the seats and you add the larger Motor, 5 gallons of Fuel, 2nd Passenger that's a lot of weight at the rear of the boat. So the Battery is more center of the boat. Why? Offsetting that weight a little I noticed the Boat planes out faster and When I fish alone and I'm on the front deck not a Problem. I hope this helps and again Great Question...

Hey Andre, So Far so good. My only true complaints is the piece of wood up front that has the trolling Motor on it. I do believe it should have been a 3/4" because it sees a lot of foot traffic. Plus the torque from a 45lb thrust trolling Motor. I do think I will change it out before to long. Thanks for the question.

@take2fishing
@take2fishing 4 жыл бұрын
Hey JoeJoe. As a matter of fact I have 3 times. The first was a float and Motor test and it ran about 18 MPH on a 20 HP Outboard. I got back to the ramp and pulled the plug and no water. 2nd trip was a Stability test to see how the front deck and rear decks did with me standing and to use ONLY the trolling Motor. Perfect. Last trip was to fish from the front and rear decks and I did but only for about 30 min and to adjust the rails on the trailer. I intend to do a on the Water video as soon as my Brand New Laptop gets back to me from taking a dump😕 Anyway I will be posting a Video soon and thanks for asking.

How did you do the cardboard? Laid it on top and traced under, the cut out with scissors?
@take2fishing
@take2fishing 5 жыл бұрын
So I used boxes that were thick and used duck tape as needed to hold pieces together. I laid it out on the frame and used a marker to draw it out. Trimming as needed. If I over cut the cardboard I simply used a marker and placed an X and I knew to correct the problem when I transfered to wood. Before cutting on the wood. I used a razor knife to cut the cardboard as needed. Hope this helps and let me know if I can help further.
