I almost want to cry...

I've been working hard to get through my unlisted inventory, it's a huge task that has been a weight on my shoulders for months. Today I finally saw some results and the feeling of relief was quite overwhelming that I may have shed a few tears. Thanks to everyone following my journey. I WILL have this sorted by the end of the year - no excuses!

What a great day. Feels so good getting things sorted into some sort of disorganised order. We've been trying to get the kitchen and lounge area back at the back of the shop. So proud of you, Mel! The US trip was very beneficial. What does Tech say about the big picture? You're working your butt off, and it's paying dividends. My concern remains for the big picture. You went through a lot of boxes in this vid, and you sorted a lot of books, and you did it all while squatting. You have to remind yourself that this is a business, not a one and done. Habits you create now, will last for the duration of your business. This means smart and safe practices. I've always wanted you to hire at least one person, but if you did that now, it would be irresponsible to both the employee and you. Too many hazards present. Too many books on top selves, too many books on the floor, no rolling seats like the library has. Perhaps ask Thom if he could look over your space and make some suggestions. You have to create habits/routines to last for the life of the business. You might not actively shop for more books, but you are a magnet for them and they will come to you. You need to prepare for that time. Mostly, consider what you're doing to your body repeatedly by bending, dragging, lifting, and squatting. Your business calls for having tables you can wheel to different aisles for you to create bundles. Set yourself up for success and that means having the right tools to do the job. Write it out. What would streamline your business? What would stop you from bending over? I worked with books and other paper collectables. The things you must have in addition to shelves are flat surfaces. Just think of the big picture. This is not a weekend gig at a flea market or garage sale. I want you to be safe and prosperous for a lifetime 😊❤

Yes you're right about all that. Once I get this all sorted (by 21/12/23) I am going to make a lot of changes then to the systems and work spaces to avoid some of this stuff that you're talking about. The bending over is a problem and I need to find solutions and some new carts that will work for me in the space I have. Promise it's all on my mind and I'm thinking of things that will work in the space once it's properly set up and all clear. Thanks so much for watching me and the kind comment x

Hi Mel I have just been re-watching this video and have a few suggestions. You still have space on the back wall for another shelf. My suggestion is to use this new empty shelf to start putting your listed bundles on using the books from the full shelf next to it. They should all fit so when that shelf is empty start on the next shelf and do the same. SKU these 3 or 4 shelves as BUN1 then shelf A to E. BUN2 shelves A to E and so on. Doing this will keep your bundles separate from the rest of the books and moving one lot from one shelf to the one beside it will save a lot of time too. Any other bundles that have already been listed and have a SKU No. can stay where they are until they are sold, thus freeing up space on those shelves for single books as and when you list them. Hope this helps in some way. You are doing a great job and I can see the end in sight. xxx

Crying is a natural stress relief (takes about 5-10 minutes for relief). A LAUGH is a modified cry and the medicine for stress relief is instantaneous. That’s another reason why people who have gone through trauma start laughing. You can control stress by being RESPONSIVE and not REACTIVE. Takes a lot of self control. You can do it, Mel ❤

A great video! A lot of valuable stock managed in such a short time (although it probably felt like ages during the doing). Might I suggest that you bring in a gardening pad so your knees aren't in contact with the cement -- want to keep those knees healthy so they will support you for many more years of managing your store! Great job! Here is a quick tip on breaking down card board boxes easily. Put them together outside and hose them down a bit. Wait 20 minutes and they just fold up like a dream! 😊

I had a notification that you responded to my last message I had put on your 21 thrift store video...I had to check and I saw it may have been around 5pm your time. Oh my goodness...you made my day 😊It gave me the boost to keep working until 5am. I can't wait to see how your boost in sales go with all this hard work you're putting in.
