I’ve used them. If you use more than 1 inch, your heel sticks out of your shoe and everyone can see. They also get dirty and smelly really really fast. Faster than socks and shoes would normally. On top of that, the wear out extremely fast.

To be fair these are really handy for short guys otherwise as well. I'm 155.5cm/5'1foot adult, so I'm basically a fucking hobbit, and these are life savers, help me reach ever so slightly higher, help if I wanna dance with a girl that's a lot taller than me, help me reach the god damn mirror better, and just generally make life tiny bit easier. And they're relatively unnoticeable. Honestly I wish it was more socially acceptable and cool for straight guys wear like tall platform shoes/ stripper high heels... Being short sucks. I wanna reach the god damn upper shelf. I wanna see world like a 6ft person at least once in my lifetime. XD
