I'm completing my senior year rn. It's not that bad tbh , I mean highschool isn't as hard or fun as they show on tv shows . I made lots of friends just in my freshman year and they have been with me eversince. It's actually quite good , at this age , u can go out with friends and have the cliche part of sneaking out . My most fond memories was of the whole class , meeting in the evening to go to the amusement park we have near our place . To leave school sneakily with friends in car which he drove to a nearby hill . It's a wonderful age and Im sure going to miss it . I’m graduating hs tomorrow and I just realized how old I am by the various comments beings like “I’m 13” or “just graduating grade 8 too!!”. Advice from an upperclassmen, hs is what you make of it. You probably heard this advice countless times already, but as I was taking a break outside the prom dance floor it really hit me. It’s YOUR choice to have a mediocre, underwhelming, or amazing hs experience. YOU can make it just like the movies or nothing like them. It all depends on who you surround yourself with (choose your friends wisely), the experiences and stuff you prioritize (do you prioritize grades or social stuff?) and your general attitude towards school. I recommend saying yes to MOSTLY everything (legally I gotta say no drugs, no drinking, no underage/and or unprotected sex lol but more) along the lines of hanging out after school, field trips, parties, extracurricular activities etc. And don’t make the mistake I did by thinking the hs experience ends when you get home. Think of it, in hs movies do they JUST stay in the school? I spent my first couple years despising hs but I rlly made an effort to enjoy my last and wouldn’t you know, I ended up loving it! I can kinda blame Covid for my “eh” overall hs experience in those pandemic times but for my grade 9 and half of grade 10 years? Yeah, I wish I did more and said yes to more opportunities. All this to say tho, your best years are still a head of you. Hs is the experimental phase. So fuckin EXPERIMENT. See who you like, who you don’t like. What bugs you, what you obsess over. Join clubs and sports teams and don’t be afraid if it doesn’t work out or if it DOES. Talk to EVERYONE, learn how to communicate and vibe with different ppl. Imo, college is where the fun RLLY begins because you’re now armed with sharpened social skills, life molding experiences, and the knowledge (not Necessary academically speaking) you accumulated in hs. In college you’re now older, you have money, you can drink, drive etc. So to my fellow hs graduates or college first years, we’re only getting started. But to all the hs freshmen , enjoy your teenage years. Thanks to Covid, we haven’t rlly been able to do that but if anything, the pandemic just made everyone more antsy to live life to the fullest, so don’t feel embarrassed to. That’s enough internet for the day, I’ve officially made it to the new-teen side of KZbin. So now I’ll spend the night having a crisis that I’m going off to college. :)))
