Maybe, although California law does require minors wear helmets while skateboarding in public areas (however, it's not always enforced).

Matt Sezer I definitely agree with you, but in the case of helmets, the solution is not to tell girls to wear helmets less but to increase how much we are telling boys to wear helmets. They're life saving devices, especially for kids, and should be heavily pushed for minors.

Unfortunately, other than for vert skaters, helmets aren't used in skateboarding at least beyond beginners. I can't think of any pro street skaters who wear them, and at this point, I think you'd have a hard time becoming a pro street skater if you wore one.
