The sad realisation that I had at this point was that Elidibus, because of his friends and the people he cared for were fighting; the whole Zodiark versus Hydaelyn schism... He ~withdrew~ himself from Zodiark to help his people to come to reconcilliation again. But inadvertently weakened Zodiark just enough to allow Hydaelyn the upper hand. In his eagerness and desire to make peace, he caused the entire split to happen...

I never knew there was such a difference in what Elidibus said between the English and JP versions! Thanks for sharing! Didn't realize he had withdrawn from Zodiark to keep the balance, thus causing Zodiark's eventual defeat 😢

Wow, thanks for subtitling Elidibus' last words. I hadn't noticed it was so different from the English version even though I use Japanese voices. I'm happy to know that version of his line exists. The Japanese versions have always been very down to earth and direct, and I love the Japanese version of his words more. "I'm the last one left", just hits me differently than the poetic English version and I like it a lot more. That said, great editing.

日本語版だと"旅に連れいってくれ"のところで水晶公(Exarch)→グ･ラハ･ティア(G'raha Tia)に戻るという演出があるんですけど英語版だとそれがないんですねぇ

In the Japanese version of the subtitles, when Crystal Exarch says "アンタと、旅がしたい", his name will change to "G'raha Tia". Only then does he take off the persona Exarch and return to the adventurous youth. Did you know? XD

I get why people swapped over to Japanese voice lines back in ARR, but by HVW, the voice acting is legitimately really good, and these scenes in particular are amazing. Like, Elidibus' lines are... They're real fuckin' good... I don't want to get into how many times I've heard them, how many times they've made me cry... Would recommend checking them out with their English VO, for sure

the english and japanese versions usually arent directly translations of eachother since the english takes liberties to add character to the lines! the main difference is honestly the japanese version tends to be way more direct rather than flowery like the english version!

@@Vashy434 In all fairness, both are good, but will be better if u play with jp voices, that u get a more accurate translation but hearing the VA in english destroy me when i did the quest.

@@restfulori212 I entirely agree, the Japanese words are painful in their directness but possibly there's a subtilty that's lost no matter how faithful to the translation they are being, but the English translation ,using the phrase we see in the echo thats one of his friends, truly cements in ones mind that In his last moments of life, his thoughts drift to them and thats just heart wrenching.

yep! the very poetic and flowery language in english isnt as present in japanese i've found, specifically when i listen to the voice acting. i personally believe its just due to cultural differences with language usage
