My daughter is 6 months old and absolutely loves it when this comes on in between bananas in pj's and play school in the mornings. It almost makes me tear up everytime because hopefully she'll know she's australian from a very young age. I'll play it to her forever! Plus we are aboriginal on mums side so it's good for her so i can explain it to her when she's older ❤

It's not the national because, when the national anthem was changed from God save the queen to advance Australia fair. This was a pop song. Its probably also not the national anthem because it has a political message and political connotations that are not shored by majority of the country.

I'm Australian by birth, and in 2017 I remarried and now live in Mindanao Philippines with my wife who is a native tribeswoman of the Higaonon tribe from Bukidnon in Northern Mindanao. The Yawuru language is Austronesian like the languages here in the Philippines, so the sound of it is familiar to me. I love this song so much that I am introducing my wife and family here to it, and even took the time to translate it into the local language, Binisaya, known as "Cebuano" on Google Translate. Here is my translation, which of course does include some paraphrasing of the English words. How right she is! No matter what language it is in, it's a stirrer of spirits. Why this song has not replaced the current National Anthem I can never work out. The truth is that we never sing more than one verse of that one, because the other two verses, well, they have their problems for a number of reasons. There is absolutely no problem with any of the words in this great song, on the other hand!
