Another fun fact about Beethoven: his deafness was brought on by what led to his death: lead poisoning. Lead was used as a sweetener to cheap wines back then, and Beethoven drank them to get rid of his headaches, which ironically caused them in the first place. A forensic study of his preserved hair strand revealed this insight. Brought to you by the Mysteries of the Museum tv series.

I love that IH managed to fit in both uncomfortable sipping/slurping ASMR and uncomfortable eating noises in one video. And I guarantee I'll forget about them every time I watch the video, and actually cringe every time I hear it.

The reason why Man In A Cave was taken down was because many lines in the video were taken, unaltered, from an article written about the same incident. IH and his team likely believed their work was transformative enough, or a writer got a little lazy. For the Reupload, they changed and rerecorded parts of the script with more unique wording. Basically it was a plagiarism issue.

Lol, it comes across as a bit silly that the dividing line between illegal plagiarism and legal citing of a source is the exact same as that which kept you from getting a mark on your record in school. I suppose they have to look out for their legal interests, but it comes across as, perhaps, a bit petty. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving, stranger.

@@chrislaezur730 I think the issue was that the original video description didn't cite the source. I think (might be wrong) they tried to appeal by adding the source, but it still didn't work. So IH just decided to redo the script in the offending areas. It's understandable on both sides, but at the end of the day, the work was transformative enough to avoid copyright if truth be told. Still, it would be bad precedent to let people use articles unsourced word for word. I think, had they cited the work originally, they'd have been fine. In the end, it worked out, and I'm sure the IH team learned their lesson in caution. In some ways, better it happened to a larger channel that can bounce back than killing a smaller one. And I did have a happy Thanksgiving, thank you! Hope yours was good as well! In lieu of this being an Internet Historian thread, here's a Fun Fact: the word "thank" originally meant "a thought." You think a thank, like how you sing a song (quoting a YT short, can't remember the creator). To give thanks is to direct good thoughts towards something. "My thanks to you," was shortened to "thank you," and thanks became synonymous to gratitude. So Thanksgiving really means to send positive vibes someone's way.

That Spider Man broadway show was pretty fraught with injuries and incidents, including one where the harness for one of the swinging spiderman extras wasn't hooked on and he proceeded to Owen Hart straight down the stage (he survived though). And that's the cherry on top of the absolute developmental trainwreck that show was.
