This is so true. Somehow I find that self consciousness is the death of most social interaction. The more hyper fixated you are on yourself and whether you look good or are ‘being normal,’ the more awkward and unnatural the interaction is.

Many women tend to on average have higher emotional intelligence and empathy to read people than men and also have strong instincts and intuition and a mans vibe can sometimes be more important. If a woman sensing a mans too into himself, self-centred, inauthentic and false, predatory, manipulative, narcissistic or just gives "off" vibes they are likely to be put off. The eyes which are the windows to the soul and micro expressions can also tell you a lot...arrogance,entitlement can sometimes be observed just by looking at a person, even if you aren't consciously aware what you are observing. A good example of this would be Elliot Rodger who was a very obvious narcissist. a lot of people have the same reaction to narcissists as they do to very human-like androids. This is called the uncanny valley hypothesis and it is the same reaction you often see to a narcissist; people aren't sure why they feel that way but something just feels "off".. This probably explains why even though he was good looking, smart, well-off and personable, Elliot Rodger could not get a girlfriend. This is the "alien" aspect of the narcissist and we see it over and over again; people can see that something is not right. They are sensing that the narcissist is a fraud and not a real human being at all. Others often cannot articulate what it is they don't like about the narcissist - who usually seems to be the picture of friendliness and sincerity - they just know they don't like it.

@@kmarie7051 I'm a girl and OMG I completely agree. I would much rather prefer someone with low confidence who says 'this is awkward huh' and we laught about it about what is awkward cuz I'm awkward in social situations too. But if you go with an intention of I "WILL" get this girls number it seems a little off.
